Strange MP 40 epidemic- double feed

Hi Everyone!

I really hate to come and start a thread to ask a question or figure out something.
But I've been stopped dead in my tracks.

Recently I bought an MP40 with stripped gears.

I replaced the gears and the gun works fine, besides the following issue I am about to describe.

I must mention that out of the 3 people I know that own an MP40 here in Canada (dogfood, Erik_james, and myself) had a set of gears stripped before firing <1000 rounds through the gun.
It isn't wonder since the gears are el cheapo cast-zinc pieces of crap...
Also we all complain of one other problem.

Double Feed.

I took my AEG-MP40 to a game last sunday and I had noticed the gun double feeds occasionaly, sometimes fires normal, than all of a sudden 3 bb's come out in one cycle.

I went home and noticed that my tappet plate is butt tight againts the BB chamber.
That is unusual because in my knowledge after the gun is fired the sector gear should NOT engage the tappet plate(well the little "notch" on the gear)

So I opened my gearbox to take a look.
I have discovered that the sector gear is engaging the tappet plate, but the gear tooth are not touching the piston, thus leaving a gap.
In my understanding the gun somehow missfired.
This is where my mind starts to get confused and get mangled just trying to figure out what the heck happened.

This is where the Gods of airsoft come into the play.

I'd really appreciate if someone could enlighten me with any kind of hint about this issue.

This not only helps me, but the rest of the MP40 owners.

And PLEASE, don't come with.... Buy a PGC mechbox man......
I don't have 500$ to spend
Although that is whats going to happen in the future.

Thanks for the help!

Regards,
Akos

Since there are so few in Canada, you might have better luck @ the WW2 airsoft boards
