Highspeed gears need a reinforced mechbox?
Planning out a CQB-R and I was going to stick in a Prometheus MS90 spring and highspeed gears in a ver.2 mechbox. Do highspeed gears cause enough shock to require a reinforced mechbox shell?

Nope. I ran Systema HS gears with 6mm bearing bushings, an Angel 120% spring and a Large 9.6 voly pack in my MC51, never had an issue and had insane (read: FAMAS-style bb hose) ROF.

An MS90 is still capable of 325 fps, so I would say no. Unless you're looking at high-speed gears + something ridiculous like like a 12v battery to get 25 rounds/second. Then I would still say no.

If you want high ROF, you normally want a really mild or stock spring. That's the strange drawback of using high speed gears; stressing them causes all kinds of problems.

Depending on how high you want the ROF to go, a stock spring may be too weak. The return rate won't be fast enough and you'll end up stripping teeth.
The *Super* High Speed gear set comes with an M100.
