ICS Stock Spring Removal

I am upgrading my spring and putting in metal bushings. The bushing are in and the gears reassembled. I have been following guides on the internet, mainly the one at http://www.airsoftplayers.com/mechbox/tutorial.asp. However, I don't know how to get the spring out of the piston/piston head on the ICS version. The piston head is very hard so I don't think i can cut it, and i don't want to try to twist it off because it looks like one piece with the piston and I would just deform the piston head. So in short, how do I get the spring out.

Thanks.

If I remember correctly,

Can you not just put the screwdriver in the spring end and unscrew it?

Maybe I'm thinking of my CA, but I thought ICS did too.

Kid the head of the screw faces the piston like a TM assembly, so that won't work.

Thanatos - There are two ways to go about this;

1: wrap the piston assembly in an old washcloth. use two sets of pliers one on the piston, the other on the piston head to apply torque and twist the head off. They are indeed two seperate parts.

2: Using a hobby knife etc, cut away the center area of the piston head until you can access the screw head and unscrew it.

Thank You, that worked. Just needed to use a bit more muscle then I was.
