what spring to use

i need your help as to what spring to use to reach 370ish fps without changing other parts inside my mechbox. i'm using a stock CA M15A4 if this could help. do you think a PDI 150% would do the trick without harming my mechbox?

thanks

Avoid the PDI springs now, they have gotten really bad and will blow your mechbox after a while.

Go with a Prometheus 110, that should give you around 360fps with 0.20g BBs. Add in metal bushings, if you want an extra 15fps, use a bearing spring guide whil eyou are in there.

Have fun!

thanks for the reply. if i'm not mistaken, CA M15A4 comes with metal bushing already. you think it will be ok to use a Prometheus 110 without changing my spring guide?

No need to change the spring guide. MS110sp is fine. There's nothing to worry about breaking something in your mechbox most of it is already reinforced. CA Stock gears can handle M120 you know. Heard a lot of good reviews about CA M15A4. Check out Arnies. Peace!

That would be 415+fps. Also depends on your other internal setup. I once used a Systema M120 and it shoots 435fps on my set up. Also check out FAS(Filairsoft.com) Our "kababayan" will answer your aeg technicalities there. Peace!

Bad how? I fail to see how a spring can be bad and blow your mechbox.

You mean miss labeled?

Just upgraded my G&G AK-104 with a PDI 150% spring and it works fine and is shooting at around 380 fps. For some reason the Prometheus MS110 spring 'didn't work' as the motor failed to spin, so we tested out by installing a PDI 150% spring and is working fine. I have a good idea what the problem is...but that is another story.
Yes the Prometheus springs are really good...have one MS110 for my TM AK and one MS100 installed for my Sig552.

Meaning because they are pretty linear (tighter coils only at the end) they are made stiffer. I've had a bastard of a time installing about half a dozen different PDI 150% springs over the course of the past year. Some are a bit easier (like what i have in my MP5 right now, but am taking out because I'm starting to get fractures in my Hurricane reinforced mechbox) than others, some are impossible to install. Add in the different spring steel used (the impossible ones are a thicker wire and longer) and varying lengths.......... my 150 shoots 350fps in my MP5 with 0.20g BBs, it measures 6 3/8" long, I've had springs on my bench, all PDI 150% that measure all the way up to 7" long. Heck, last Saturday I had to replace the piston in my MP5, took out the spring and have another 150% around as well, put the two together and the other one is about 1/4" shorter than the one I'm using. I've installed PDI 150% springs that shoot upwards of 425fps, others that do 350 or 370fps.

Fact is, I encourage people to buy the Prometheus springs, they are much easier to install and more consistant.

Warphotographer, you don't NEED to install a bearing spring guide, I just suggested it since they are solid, benefit the way your gun works, and will give a bit extra fps. And since the mechbox is open anyways...............

I had a PDI 150% and it was hitting +460fps
If your not careful, that will crack your mechbox in no time.

The fact is, right now PDI 150% springs range from 350 to 470fps...what good is that?

Prometheus springs are good. But their MS120SP should put you over 400fps. As stalker said, 415 - 430fps area.
The MS110SP should land you in the 380-390 zone. Allows you to use parts like bearing pring guides and tightbores without putting you over 400fps.

Dont hold me to those numbers, talk to Illusion, tell him the gun you have and what FPS you want and he can get you there.

Guarder is good too, just had more expereince with Prometheus. Think I've installed one Guarder spring previously, but a dozen or so Prometheus springs. Both are still WAY easier than the 150% springs (funny, the 170% springs are easier to install as well.)

guarder is fine, but I dont think they are on par with systema yet. Systema used to be the benchmark for parts, but for springs, its prometheus.
