Sun Projects M40XB tightbore

Hi everyone. I just picked up a Sun M40XB a couple of days ago, it was new but the nozzle was bent(store employee didn't know not to put in an empty mag and close the bolt) so I got it for a song. Being a machinist, I'm gonna re-make the nozzle out of stainless, problem fixed. The adjustable hopup unit was real easy to find info on, it's made by PDI and goes for roughly $60.

NOW.....

Here's where my problem is. I've gone one a google safari and no matter how long I've looked, I can't seem to find any REAL info about a tightbore for this gun. I've only found brief, vague mentions of a Systema 6.04. Anyone know of a company that makes a 6.03, and if the Systema one is the only one available, how much does it cost?

Thanks for your help.

DEA sells the M40, maybe they have some parts. How is the rifle? I hear it's all metal and wood. Sounds pretty nice.

I haven't fired it yet, gonna fix the cylinder head this week. It does indeed have a wood stock, and not a single plastic piece inside except for some rubber seals. Everything is metal, and most of it is machined. From what I've seen, I personally think it's better made than the APS2(my opinion).

I'm not familiar with DEA....

That would be the M40A1. The XB has an inner barrel with an outer diameter of 10mm(standard AEG barrels are 8.5) and the hopup is different(lots simpler, in fact).

UPDATE: I finished the nozzle, test-fired it. Fixed hopup does practically nothing, adjustable hopup is on the way soon. The velocity is at least 350(my estimation), gonna chrono it soon. I will be upgrading the spring.

OK Products (Japan) makes a series of 6.03mm stainless steel inner barrels for the M40A1:

I've just ordered a PDI hopup unit, these are designed to take standard AEG barrels! I didn't know this mod existed, so OZ, you were right. I'll be purchasing a Prometheus tightbore of the appropriate length when the hopup unit arrives.

The next mod will be the spring. Still have to find out if I need to replace any trigger parts or if it's strong enough stock....
