ics metal bushing quesation? quick answer needed

hi all
sorry if this has been asked a million times, just ordering some stuff and need a quick answer.

i thought that ics guns came with metal bushings but it turns out they dont?

i have read that systema bushings wont fit, not sure why?

is this true, or will systema bushings actually fit fine?

The bushing holes in the ICS guns are too small.

They can be made to fit, but don't use a hammer, press it in slowly and take your time.

Be careful not to deform the mechbox.

i fitted some metal systema bushings to a tm gun recently and they didnt fit as they were to bit, i just opened up the holes in the mechbox a bit with a drill bit, will i be able to do the same with the ics?

If you were to drill anything... I would kind of suggest modifying the bushings, as they're cheaper to replace when you screw up. Though, the gearbox pot metal would be easier to play with.

But if you do, be very careful that everything is done evenly. If it isn't done evenly, theoretically, you could have some problems with your gears in the future... but it shouldn't be too much...

Most people just use a press of some sort and push them in, slowly and carefully of cource.

i didnt drill right through the mech box, just used a bigger dimension drill to give a lead in to the hole, like countersinking a screw into a peice of wood.

am i right in saying we are talking about a hairs width in difference between the bushings and the mechbox, its not in the MM scale?

Just hairs, if we were talking about MM, there sure wouldn't be anyone successfully banging theirs in.

It's really just a tiny little difference, but causes so much pain... ar, that's why I have my ICS for sale now. I hate their poor compatability.

The ICS bushing holes are slightly smaller then TM's. I have Systema bushings in my ICS right now and it took a bit of coercing to get them in but I didn't use a drill bit or anything. Just take your time and be careful and it'll work out in the end.

I use a c clamp usually works well for me.
I've read I believe it was mcguyver that wrote, That if you're using the stock ics gears that axle diamiter is smaller than after market sets and bushings so for a good fit ics and I think another brand of bushing should be used to propperly fit the gears into the bushings.

Like I said it's just what I think I read but if mcguyver's around maybe he can elaberate on it better.

Yeah, the axle diameters are different. ICS uses a slightly smaller diameter than Marui, Systema, etc.. This means that ICS bushings can't be used with other brands of gears. You can use ICS gears with other bushings though and the play is very slight. You can get bushings from ICS and save youself the grief. I use them all the time.

ICS brand.

If you have a new ICS gun though, it may already have metal bushings. I assume you would have checked that though.

If you look on ICS's web-page,says they have metal bushings in the newer models,so maybe the unit you have is old stock? I'v been running Top power metal bushings with System gears,no prob's for the past two years with a M-120 spring,almost two years! Cheers!
