Classic Army SA58 Carbine RIS DMR Project

Hello All,

I have recently acquired a brand new Classic Army SA58 with the RIS system and the fullstock from Mach1Airsoft, and I was planning on turning it into a DMR. I will be using a mock suppressor or a barrel extension as the stock outer barrel length is about the size of a mk18s. This is kind of the first project of it's kind for me and I was wondering if my ideas were correct. So far I have some idea of what parts to install, however I have no idea what brands would be preferable etc.

Parts/items I have planned to install:

Prometheus 6.03 inner barrel
Flat-hop (Suggestions please!)
Some sort of aftermarket SIG air nozzle (Correct me if I'm wrong, not really sure what type of nozzle actually fits)
M130/M140 to get a fps between 420-450
Upgraded Cylinder/Cylinder head (Suggestions please!)
Upgraded Piston/Piston Head (Suggestions please!)
Low ratio Gearset (13:1)
SHS High Torque Motor
Silver Wiring (Stock wire breaks easily)
Some sort of Mosfet (Suggestions please!)
11.1v Lipo Battery

I'm hoping to get a accurate range of 200-250 feet, and a quick trigger response as I plan on only using it on Semi.

Any modifications, parts, and upgrade suggestions would be well appreciated. As well, if there are any threads/forums I should read to get more information that would be great as well as I love to learn as much as possible.

Cheers,

OneSpeed

You're taking a CQB gun and making a DMR... Sounds pretty typical these days.
Change your question to how you can make your gun as accurate and combat effective as possible.

Prometheus 6.03 inner barrel
Flat-hop (Suggestions please!) R Hop
Some sort of aftermarket SIG air nozzle (Correct me if I'm wrong, not really sure what type of nozzle actually fits) SiG nozzle is correct, however the CA hop up chamber has a very small internal diametre. I'm not sure why. Lonex nozzle does not fit, but my Modify nozzle did after I widened the hop up unit a bit. Easiest to use the stock nozzle as it already has an internal O-Ring.
M130/M140 to get a fps between 420-450 If your air seal is any good a M130 will get you 480 FPS and M140 will get you 500+. A M120 will put you around 440-450 as long as your air seal is good.
Upgraded Cylinder/Cylinder head (Suggestions please!) Any metal cylinder head will do as long as the nozzle does not wobble on it too much. Avoid teflon coated cylinders like Modify and Lonex, only use steel cylinders like SHS and ZCI.
Upgraded Piston/Piston Head (Suggestions please!) Lonex Piston or SHS Piston, Lonex POM Piston Head.
Low ratio Gearset (13:1)
SHS High Torque Motor
Silver Wiring (Stock wire breaks easily) Read below.
Some sort of Mosfet (Suggestions please!) 3034 MOSFET or BTC Unit. Both will come with wiring. Avoid Gate units.
11.1v Lipo Battery

Thanks for the tips! As for making a CQB gun into a DMR, I happen to like the 7.62 platform for a DMR without it being a typical M110/SR25. If I could get a Longer SA58 with a equally long rail system trust me I would, but this is what I have and it will be what I will make do with. Thanks for the advice.

For the nozzle, if JGs are the same dimensions as the CA, then SHS aluminum nozzles work. You'd be best to upgrade the cylinder head too to SHS as it's a REALLY tight fit on my Element cylinder head. That might just be because it's Element and they are notoriously bad with QC, but I've found that compression parts work best if they're all made by the same manufacturer.

Hi!

No real suggestion, but you project has relation to reality:

As I know SASR refurbised L1A1 shorties...

the hop up is (as far as i know) proprietary, but from my own experience with my OSW it's a perfectly good unit. replacements can be easily found through various retailers should you somehow destroy it though :P
