The R71 ~ Calling all Modifiers
Hey guys, Marcus here.
You may know the Crosman R71 to be a beginner, or borderline crappy gun. This is true. At only 200 fps, no real mag or sight (just a hopper), it isn't the best thing to start out on. Regardless, it's all I have. So, let the mods begin. Assuming I have an infinite supply of parts, let's start with the loading mech. Since the gravity fed hopper is the "scope," I'll need to construct a better (and concealed) hopper. Any ideas? Thanks, Marcus |

honestly there isnt anything you can do with the crappy clear mechbox, and fragile exterior. your best bet is to field it as is and save up for a better gun. I can pretty much guarantee that if you put in a stiffer spring the mechbox would explode and if you take apart the body some things gonna snap...

Stick to just repainting the thing. If you absolutely must tacti-cool it, glue stuff on the outside.
If you don't know what you're doing, don't mess around with the insides. |

You are going to spend more on this than the "rifle" (and I use the term loosely) is worth. Save up, get age verified on this site and you'll be able to afford something that really is "entry level" soon enough. If the $400 for a beginner rifle is too much, this is the wrong sport for you at this point.

The gun is already black, I bought it like it.
As for a 400 dollar gun, why should I? I'm only fooling around with a few friends in the backyard, obviously nothing serious. I'm not even 18, so I cant be age verified and I cant order online. All I want is a fun little project to make the cheap ass gun better. |

Okay, I figured you guys were all serious about airsoft, and to tell you the truth, I'd love to be. But I'm not of age, and I have no one to play airsoft with. Anyway, I'll look elsewhere for a less serious forum. Thanks for the help, I'll keep it in mind.

1) Attend with a parent the first time (and maybe a few times after that). Meet the players. Say "Hi". Show interest. Ask questions. Be polite. Get to know the sport from a spectating perspective. The players may even let you handle their rifles/pistols. Hell, ask if you could be a photographer just to step into the field and see how the sport is played. 2) Be active within the community. You don't have to show up to every event, but often enough that people will know you. And this is the thing - If you've done (1), and you've shown yourself to be fairly mature about the sport, they MAY let you play. Basically, (1) is like a probationary period where you are being evaluated by the players (and eventually, hopefully, your peers). Regardless of whether they'll let you play or not, you can also use the time to learn about the gear and equipment used by others. It will give you a better idea of what you may want for yourself once you get a proper rifle. |

cyber gun Kalashnikov Ak-47 should be a decent starting rifle don't need to mess around with the Crossman R76 because that is disposable. The Cyber gun AK-47 should have a CYMA V3 mechbox and is compatible with TM parts. I started with one and it's still around. AK-47s are similar to their real world counterpart cheap and is good enough to be effective if used correctly. Cheers!

There are no mods that can be done to a POS gun. Period.
All that will happen by you continuing this, will be you getting fed to the ASC hate machine, you becoming banned and you being banned from any games once you get to 18. Character on the forum, reflects character on the field. Stop, read, be polite and listen. /Thread.
