Scope Sighting Question

Hey forum, I was wondering what the minimum distance a target should be when you're sighting in a scope?

For my l96 i have it scoped in at 20 m but you can scope it in at anything you want (Your own preference)

what distance are you going to shooting at mostly? ... short example being ... if your running a FPS that requires an Min engage distance of say 100ft ... then zeroing @ 50ft might not give proper results ...


typically I rough set around 50ft in the basement to save time during setup at the field .. and then make finer adjustments and tests at the field where I can let the hop up work and set/test the ranges I'll actually be shooting at.


if the scope and the mounting is good quality/done properly and you haven't used your rifle as a bat or a falling aid(or hamper as the case may be) should only have to do it once

Heres a guide I wrote on using scopes for airsoft sniper rifles, or rifles in general.

Generally, the ideal place to zero your sight is to the point before the BB begins to drop and lose energy. I usually zero a bit above the center of the crosshairs (if you're using a 30-06' scope, where the crosshair thickens, like in the guide.)

Thirty feet is what I'd do for rifle/scope calibration and zeroing, then tweak it at the field to check and rezero if needed. Anything less will cause bigtime issues with zero.
