Importing Question

After reading the FAQ on Importing Laws, I saw that it said you cant import metal frames, but you can import metal pistol slides, does that mean if I wanted to import this

http://shop.ehobbyasia.com/guarder-a...trp-black.html

I couldn't because its a metal frame? Or is the metal frame more directed to AEGs and GBBRs?

From what I know, frames refers to pistol frames, like this one you linked, and is prohibited, just like receivers for an AEG or GBBR.

Pistol slides alone are ok.

Someone will correct me if I'm wrong I guess

No that's exactly it.

Slides alone are fine.

Frames, lower receivers, etc aren't and risk being seized.

If your legal slide is in the same package as the frame (kit) it will be seized along with it (ie., they won't release the bits and pieces of the box that are okay).

As an aside I have head of some aggro regarding copies of parts for prohibited pistols.

The agent just sees a barrel or slide that's under the limit or for something on the list like a USP compact and yanks it.

I have enquired to ehobbyasia about importing a AEG into Canada. They gave me this response, "Please look under the “Uncontrolled firearm section” of the firearms act. It will detail how we upgrade the fps to ship the item through." I thought there was no way to get and AEG imported from Hong Kong into Canada. Am I wrong? Can they ship to me?

For a regular Joe, even with the "right velocities", your gun is likely to be seized, which then turns into an appeal where the gun has to be tested by the RCMP (at your cost), making the process take months and cost more than just buying in Canada. Even some of the larger legal retailers with all the right importation paperwork and such get grief from CBSA. It can be done, but the headaches, costs and long waits associated with the process outweigh any benefit from doing so, considering the great selection of guns we currently have available in Canada.

Get age-verified and you'll see. If you're not 18, then you shouldn't be looking into buying airsoft guns anyway.

Oh, and on the importation of receivers / frames - whatever part of the real gun would have the serial number on it - lower / mid frame for pistols, lower receiver for MOST AEGs (upper for a couple like the MP5), that's the part that's prohibited.

Slides are ok. Most upper receivers for AEGs are ok. Lowers are the problem.

Thanks for clearing that up. I actually met an age verifier last monday and am still waiting for my info to get processed by the admins to let me in the AV only section. I want to buy my first ever Airsoft gun so bad... everyone remembers their first gun I bet cause I know I'm super excited. But I've been picking away at the savings I have for my gun cause the process is taking a while. I hope it's processed soon or I wont have anything left.... lol
