Snipers
hey guys I was looking at buying a new sniper rifle soon and I have narrowed it down to three guns
1. vsr-10 pros: -reliable -accurate - cheap -480 fps cons: -not as ascetically pleasing but still looks nice 2.well l96 pros: -fast (480-500 fps) -looks cool -reliable cons: -double feeding issues - accuracy issues 3.Dragunov SVD pros: -looks awesome! -longest barrel for accuracy -fast (480-500 fps) -almost all metal cons: -double feeding issues - not too upgradable I'm buying from buyairsoft.ca, so can I get some opinions as to which gun is better and why, it would be much appreciated. |

2, NO; WELL makes shatty sniper rifle clones, especially the L96. Stay away from it. It has crap internals and it has a tendency to EXPLODE if the stock internals are not taken out and replaced with semi good ones. STAY AWAY FROM WELL 3, NO; Stay away from that particular SVD as well. Crap internals for such a high velocity FPS, will also explode if not careful. If you don't listen to my or anyone else's advice, please when you get it, don't come on here raging about how much it sucks, you were warned. Also, swap out the spring/spring guide if you do get them; the spring is cheap and so is the craptacular plastic spring guide. If you want a VSR10, go with Tokyo Marui, best choice by far. If you want an L96, sigh... not many good companies make them, but go with UTG if you want cheaper. And from what I hear from one of the best bolt gun techs on here (Amos), the Tokyo Marui L96 is by far the best L96 on the market If you want a SVD, go with RealSword. The realism is unbelievable, the quality beautiful, and overall, it's a masterpiece Assuming you're 18 and youve been here for 2 months (allegedly), there's often pre-upgraded sniper rifles that will save you the hassle of buying/maintaining/upgrading the crappy clones Also, Snipers are people like me. Sniper Rifles are what you're after, though I'm not that expensive

you're going about your pros and cons list all wrong. Its ALL about upgrade availability.
All three of these sniper rifles are sub-par for actual usage. Consistency/accuracy is on par with low-mid level aegs that can shoot 100x as much volume of bbs. In any legitimate airsoft game, guns that shoot this fast will require you to not only be trusted in the community, but to have a strict minimum engagement distance. This means at distances you will be allowed to engage, say 100ft your "sniper" will be useless. Buy a TM vsr-10 if anything. They are regarded as the best platform, and you can upgrade with a myriad of parts as you go without worry of parts not fitting. |

Or go with echo1's asr or m28. For the price these are good rifles

What he said. Basically, PDI/Polar Star for all the internals, Firefly Hop up rubber (soft type for 390 and below FPS, hard type for 410 and above FPS)

FPS doesn't mean anything when it comes to range and accuracy, so don't even consider the FPS of the rifle.
A brand new tokyo marui VSR-10 at 300fps will have the same range and better accuracy than some chinese 480fps rifles. If you want a REALLY realiable stock platform that's accurate, easily upgradeable with high quality parts, and compatible with upgrade parts, get a marui VSR-10 or marui L96 But if this is your first gun, don't get a sniper rifle. Get an AEG. |

Not entirely true. The m28s internals leave a fair amount to be desired. For a product that boasts 500+ fps I have no idea why they elected to go with a plastic spring guide.

Every once in a while you'll see a really nice VSR-10 etc pop up here for sale with all the bells and whistles put on. In the meantime start with an AEG and hit up some games.

~$1100 for a used TM VSR isn't uncommon. That's after upgrades to all PDI internals.

Once you get age verified, you'll have access to retailers who sell them.
