Are they engraved and printed, or just printed?

Depends on the gun. The trademarks on both (System 7 and Non-System 7) of my USPs have been printed on

Plastic parts are engraved, (molded is probably the better word) Metal are laser etched, if you want a metal engraved, check Shooter Design slides
