Arrow M4 mechbox removal

Hello,

I'm going to need some help taking the gbox out of the lower receiver in my m4. I took all the possible screws out. do I need to take the 'retractible' stock out to get it out? cuz thats the only part that I didn't remove...yet.

So please, if you have an idea of how to take remove the gbox out of the lower receiver, please reply.

for those who live in ottawa or in the surounding area, PLEASE call (613) 323-5150...

Thank you.

Yeah, rear stock has to come out as well. It actually holds the back of the mechbox in the gun.

Let's see what it takes if memory serves me right.

- front receiver pin
- rear receiver pin
- pin above trigger
- mag catch assembly (watch out for spring). THis may not be necessary
- rear stock assembly
- front barrel assembly. This may also not be necessary.
- bottom motor, grip assembly
- wires from front end

That should do it. Someone with a better memory feel free to jump in.

Disconnect the 2 wires coming out of the body to the fuse connector. Remove the rear receiver pin. Grab the stock pipe with your left hand and using your right hand, firmly grip the rear of the top receiver where the forward assist protrudes from the body. Using the front receiver pin as a pivot, pop the top receiver off like a seesaw. I would normally do this while the gun is lying flat. This is because the inner barrel with the hopup unit can slide off and fall onto the ground. You'll need to buy a new hopup if you do that.

Once the top receiver has pivoted up and away from the mechbox, you can now remove the front receiver pin and the top receiver from the bottom receiver. Remove the rest of the screws like what was posted and the mechbox will come out of the bottom receiver.

We're talking about a TM M4 I assume and not some metal bodied M4.

ok, so it's the retractable stock thats stopping me from removing the gbox eh. alright, so, how do you remOve the stock? I noticed a washer like nut thats screwed right at the end of the stock (closest to the body), is that what has to come off?

thanks again

Yes, that small socket head screw holds the stock pipe end cap in place. Remove the end cap and you'll be able to unscrew the tail stock. You'll need a Philips head screwdriver that is long enough to reach the screw.

DO NOT TRY TO REMOVE THE LARGE NUT NEAR THE BODY. That's decorative on our guns and does not unscrew.

It took me a few minutes to figure it out as well. Use a very small allen key and remove the stop screw from the screw on nut holding the adjustment lever in place (don't know how else to describe this). Unscrew the nut. Slide off the bottom of the adjustment lever. Now while pulling on the adjustment bolt slide the stock all the way back and off the stock barrel. You can now get to the back cover and get a long screwdriver in the barrel to remove the rear end.

Wish I had a picture to explain it more.

I need to carefully read what you posted. lol I was talking about the small socket screw that would be hidden if the stock is not removed.

You can just pull down the lever until it clears the groove that it sits in. Extend the stock in the fully extended position and pull down hard on the lever till the stock slides itself off from the pipe.

Here's a link to the M4 manual and exploded view of the parts: http://www.airsoftplayers.com/m4/m4_1.jpg

Just wanted to thank those who posted here. Especially v82slo who added a step to mech box removal that helped ALOT.

This was the third place I visited before I got ALL of the steps to remove my mechbox. Google rocks!

Have a great holiday season.
