Recommend a box/drum mag pouch
Hey guys. I've been trying to put together proper gear sets lately, and I've basically been trying to settle on black and OD gear for all of my various guns. Right now, I'm looking for a way to carry PPSh-41 drum magazines. These measure about 15 CM wide, 15 high, and 5 CM thick. They're rounded drums, so I'm concerned as to whether or not the machine gun ammo pouches will hold them properly, or perhaps be too roomy for a single one. The silver lining is that they're pretty much flat, with the exception of the nut that holds the drum together, unlike the AK ones which look like they curve outwards.
Is there a pouch someone could recommend for use on a MOLLE vest? Before someone says it, I don't want to use an old style chest rig. I'm rather attach to MOLLE gear, and I want to carry other equipment on the vest in addition. I've looking at admin pouches and smaller dump pouches right now, but the admin pouches look too flat, and dump pouches in front of a vest is awkward.

What about GP/Medic pouches? You can get them in pretty much all sizes and shapes

Are you referring to the square general purpose ones people keep to the side? They look like they're a bit too narrow to properly fit the round shape in. This one I found is wide enough for sure, but isn't quite high enough. Last edited by TaroBear; December 11th, 2011 at 22:07.. |

Seems like I'd have to stretch it a bit. The G&P M-249 pouch is the closest I've found to what I need.

Do you support gamers put each drum/box mag into it's respective pouch when reloading, or use a jumbo sized dump pouch?

The Pantac M249 pouches I have are made for belted ammo, not new box mags.
To be honest, I run one nutsack and refill it on the gun. How many of the PPSh drums do you have? The only thing I can imagine is some sort of C-mag pouch or a gas mask pouch.

I've got 4 spares plus one for the gun. Do you mean one of those crouch mounted dump pouches?

No a nutsack is one of those canvas covered half size box mags. Way more convenient than the full on tupperware 249 box.

Sweet link Kingsix, thanks. Any experience with the Type 53 ammo bag? Looks really roomy inside.
