G&G m14 EBR
In the future im planning on building a DMR and Im wondering if anyone can give me some reviews on this m14 that I may use as the base.
http://www.evike.com/products/32657/ It seems like a great gun but is definitely pricey once you get into attachments/upgrades etc. and I noticed it was released around 2012-13. Is there anything newer that I should be considering or is this still regularly manufactured and worth a buy today new? Also Im having trouble finding a Canadian retailer. Would like to find an official retailer somewhere between Niagara and the GTA (Southern Ontario). Can anyone help me out with that? Alternatively where would be a the best place to buy/ship from? If the initial questions are straightforward for the vets here then feel free to give your opinion on upgrades and attachments as well, as I definitely want to build the whole platform and kit before as close as possible before actually purchasing all the products. Thanks guys! |

I've owned a g&g m14 and have worked on the ebr as well. The mags are proprietary to g&g and CA. The g&g mags are 80 rounds only but they are nicer than the CA mags. They are expensive though.
The gearbox has more standard parts than the TM m14 but still has its share of proprietary G&G m14 only parts. Both are a pain in the ass to work on. The screw holes on the battery compartment/handguard are a likely spot to have stripped or crossthreaded threads.Care has to be taken to insert and remove the battery else you will damage these holes beyond functionality. Which means you'll need to retap/thread new holes for different screws. I hope you have strong arms and upper back, the gun is very front heavy. Performance-wise I liked how my g&g socom performed. It uses a metal AUG hopup and lonex makes aftermarket parts for this model m14. The nozzle and cylinder head are unique I think. It could be an aug nozzle though. Trigger contacts I think are lifted from a v2 or v3 but in their own housing. The cutoff lever is proprietary. Tappet plate and spring are p90 push spring style rather than pull.
