Custom made plate carrier (56k death)

Since forever, I wanted a good kit for inside CQB and a good kit for outside field work. I'm a big fan of realisme, and non armored tacvest would not do it for me. I loved the look of a CIRAS, but I needed 2 colors and 2 sets of pouches to fit my need. It was too expensive.

One day, I had an idea and made some plans. I than searched around to see if someone was capable of building my dream loadout. After some searching, I found someone that was able to do it at a resonnable cost. It was supposed to be a prototype for a series of vests designed only for my team, the GITQ. Because I ran in some troubles with the company that made the vest, we are curently moving away from that thing and going elsewhere to meet our needs.

Anyway, here is what I came with.

I needed a reversable vest. OD on one side, Black on the other. Compatible with SAPI plates. All modulaire with pouches for P90 and G36/M4 mags.

Here is the First prototype.

Black configuration, V1.0

OD configuration, V1.0

Several thing did not meet my expectations. Notably the shoulders and side closure. The buckles on the magpouchs where the wrong type and made mag changes a bit time consuming and complicated.

I had some changes made and some modifications. Buckles removed because they did not had the right kind.

This is the V2.0 of the prototype.

OD configuration, V2.0

Black configuration, with bicep armor. V2.0 All loaded and ready for action.
Note the 2 OD pockets added, because I needed some more room to carry stuff.

Vest in "sniper configuration". Pockets are attached higher to permit easy access when prone. I normaly use my M24, but used a G36K for the pic.

That's it. It's been a long time since I wanted to show what is possible to do when you put some money forward. I still find that this vest could be improved. I'd add more ajustability, the right kind of buckles on the magpouches, change the magpouches model to something that is a little more space saving (stitches inside, unlike in the CIRAS pouches styles used here).
The bicep armor velcro straps and attachement could be improved a lot on.

Our team will be getting entirely new vest pretty soon. So this prototype will remain the only one on this earth. I don't know if I will sell it, cuse it meet my needs, but I sure won't be using it much after we get our new team vest.

Who made the vest: Tiger tactical
How much did it cost: It was part of a deal I had with them... prototype was 500$ and all other vest where going to be much lower.
Total development and build time: Too long. Mostly because of comunications issue.
Built quality: Very well made in therme of durability and material quality used.

you should patent the reversable idea... that is the greatest idea out there. im sure everyone of us would buy one if we could do it all over again.

Crap, if you're ever willing to sell to some one outside of your team, I would love one of those in Coyote brown/OD if I don't get CIRAS first. That's BRILLIANT!!!!

How comfortable is the molle straps on the inside? no chafing or digging from it?

Wow thats an ingenious idea! Kudos to your design and i'm surprised that no airsoft vest maker has thought of this before. Lots of players would love a two role/one vest.

The vest is very confortable. I don't feel the molles inside at all. With the SAPI plate inside, the vest is rigid and confortable. I can even lay prone on my stomach or back and it still confortable. No plate shift inside.

The magpouches are all custom. They are not complicated, and franckly, I don't like them. I'd redo them completely in a new desing so save space and accelerate mag changes.

I still don't know if I will sell this prototype.

If someone want to have bicep armor, they are easy to make. The one I curently have need some improving, but they are ok. If only I had the time and equipment to make my own gear by myself, I'd do everything and it would have been nicer.

i like the idea but it'd get a little annoying switching pockets from inside to out and vice versa wouldn't it?,
whats that medium strike face thing?
EDIT: yea you should patent it before someone tries to steal it from you

I'm sure it would be more annoying paying double for two vests. That's the fake SAPI plates.

If I ever sell this rig, It's going as a package unless I find someone willing to buy everything.
