Building a M4 with a cheap base rifle

I am thinking of building my own custom M4 with the following parts.

SOCOM GEAR MK18 9.5 DD SOPMOD II RIS II Handguard for M4 Series
King Arms M4 Reinforced Outer Barrel With Chamber Block (10.5inch)
G&P Delta Ring Set
G&P Magpul Vltor Type Metal Body for M4 AEG
G&P 8mm Reinforced Bearing Gearbox Set (Rear Wiring, Tamiya)
Systema Metal Hop Up Unit
Prometheus 6.03 EG Barrel (407mm)
Systema Magnum Motor (Long)
Guarder Improved Hop Up Bucking
G&P G27 Ergonomic Pistol Grip
EA Steel Sling Swivel
Magpul PTS Backup Sight (OD)
G&P RAS Gas Block

My biggest concern is of course wherever these custom parts would be compatible with each other and the base gun. Any information would be greatly appreciated.

Building a custom gun has a great feeling and a sense of pride. The bitch is mixing different brand of parts. Try and stick to a few brands so you have a better chance of compatibility. You better have a dremel with lots of bits of all shape and size. It will save you when the bitch comes out. Good luck.

P.S. If you're gonna build a custom gun, don't start with a clone.

So.. The velocity Arm CQB m4 is a bad choice? You think I should start with a G&P M4 base gun? Do you have any recommendation?

go with a receiver you like and a good mech box is a bonus, from the parts list you have, you barely need the base gun, looks like all your missing is a a stock and a a grip

Buy a parts gun with the most parts that you'll use.

Are you sure I don't need a base gun? I really hope so but I think some internal components are still missing like selector switch, trigger guard..etc

The lower receiver is a restricted item -- you won't be able to import of from E-Hobby Asia. You need to ask a retailer to do it for you.

My first question is, why are you getting a different mechbox when you have a perfectly good one already in the gun? What a waste of money.

What base of the gun? I dont know if you noticed but you are pretty much replacing everything. Everything g&p should fit since its all the same brand. Why bother even purchasing the VA gun in the first place, just skip that part entirely and source the remaining parts you need.

Just take a step back and think for a second. What you are suggesting that you want to do essentially equates to going to the grocery store to buy a pie. You take that pie home and then throw the pie in the garbage but you keep the pie tin and then bake a new pie with that same pie tin.

Thanks Styrak, TokyoSeven. There is much to learn for me.

I think I should have discarded the idea of getting the base gun.

I have just updated my wish list
SOCOM GEAR MK18 9.5 DD SOPMOD II RIS II Handguard for M4 Series
G&P 10.5inch Commando Steel Outer Barrel
Madbull Delta Ring Modification Kit

I think I am missing an inner precision barrel. Any good suggestions?

My money is always on Prometheus, they have excellent barrels. Make sure its connected to a quality hopup unit like a prometheus, systema or a g&p.

For a barrel I would say Prometheus or KM.

I'll put my vote in for Prometheus.

Don't forget a guarder clear hop up bucking and SCS spacer!

I am going to stick with the metal hopup that come with G&P gear box.

Do you all think the above parts should be enough to build a functional skeleton m4?

Do I need any special "tools" for this assembly?
