BB's slicing?

Hello there,

I was shooting my G36C today to adjust my hop-up. After fixing the "up/down", I started to notice that my BB's were slicing right (Just as when I play golf, but that's another story).

It would start at around 120 feet and hit the target 3-4 feet off at 160 feet.

Is this normal or do I have to adjust something else?

Also, this got me into thinking : Why are the BB's round? I think a golf ball like surface would make them travel better.

Thanks,

Just

May have to do with the nub's position in relation to center of barrel.

Wind was from right to left, coming and going. When I was catching wind, the BB's would fly in a "S" pattern...

The nub is the little piece of rubber that goes into the hop up arm. It raises within the hop up chamber to create the hump to cause back spin.

Thanks for all your responses!

I decided to open my baby up. I was able to take off the hop-up assembly. I took out the rubber sleeve (F75) and a small (3mm dia x 3mm long) piece of rubber came off (F30). (Almost lost it in the process, but nevermind that)

I cleaned everything and will do some testing this weekend. I'll keep you posted.

The Bastard has looked into dimpling the BB's but there have been a few set backs. Marketing being a big one, one of the early diagrams explaining the concept too closely ressembled an actual golf ball, general hystaria on ASC created fear of getting hit by a Bastard Golf ball and no one came to any games to test early prototypes. There was some concern also about people not being able to call their hits after a full auto burst of Bastard Golf Balls. Eventually the whole project was shelved.

i cant tell if you are serious or not...but i am reminded of an addon i saw for ar series rifles that went on like a suppressor.....and when combined with blanks would launch golf balls a few hundred yards...

The fluid dynamics that govern the effect that dimples give a golf ball do not scale down to 6mm.

Be advised that you may induce "slincing" if you don't hold your rifle level. The axis of rotation induced by the hop-up must remain perpendicular to the ground.

I was just talking to someone the other day that asked why airsoft bb's are not dimpled like a golf ball.
