Converting TM M14 AEG to Electrice Blowback

Hi guys,

Just want to toss a question out there that I have been wondering for a while now, and it is:

Q: Can I modify my TM M14 AEG to have a Blowback action? and if so how do I go about doing it?

I'd say no. The bolt/charging handle is way too heavy for your motor to pull it back.

I see, so in reality you cant change a AEG to a GBB then right?

No.

Unless you use a daytona kit for say, a M249 or an AK.

What you asked for in the first post was EBB (Electric Blowback)

EBB is a small or a set of small parts linking your gearbox's piston to the charging handle/bolt cover. It can be done on Thompsons fairly easily.

But the M14's charging handle is too heavy and you can't just pull the "bolt" as it needs a up and back motion as opposed as the just back motion of the Thompson.

It's not worth it anyway, more parts to break.

GBB = Gass Blow Back (used to define guns which are powered by propane/greengas, CO2, or duster gas. Non-Electric by nature.)

EBB = Electric blow back (simulates a bolt movement by either a separate electric engine attached to the circuit of an AEG, or by physical attachment to the piston of an AEG. Often, shitty guns, due to unnecessary stress to the main components of an AEGs mechbox.)

YOU CAN make an AEG into a GBB, by replacing the mechbox with a gas powered mechbox. The conversion is often expensive and rarely awesome (Daytonagun mods are awesome, for instance.)

Making an AEG an EBB is also possible, but takes a fair amount of work, and skill to make happen reliably.

Making an M14 AEG, an EBB, would take near an act of God. You would litterally save money by throwing out the AEG M14 and buying a GBB M14

Considering there's plenty of GBBR M14s around, a conversion seems the wrong way to go about it.

A noob question, but I've pulled my tm m14 apart to upgrade the spring, and it's attached to the piston... how do I get it apart? Don't want to break the thing.

Hold onto the piston and rotate the piston head.

yes they do... though I feel more comfortable just replacing the piston/piston head as well on a TM.

TM piston heads have the screw head buried under the face of the piston, use a utility knife and carefully cut a crater in the middle to expose the Phillips screw head, then use a screwdriver to separate the head from the body. Pretty easy overall.
