CTW is the top of the clone pile. It would be a solid choice for a TW platform IMO. I would have bought one as a backup gun, but I ended with two (soon to be 3) more systema PTWs for a comparable price.

DTW / A&K / G&D
Not worth buying unless you are completely committed to getting a CTW/Systema in the future and want to be able to move your mags/batteries/bling over to a better platform and perhaps use this as a loaner, beater, backup.

Not worth 'upgrading' see post below.

In my opinion not worth your time. I contacted a FCC dealer to get quotes as I had an extra upper at the time, Dealer tried to sell me a complete gun. I sourced a factory PTW lower and needed the guts, FCC dealer tried to sell me a complete gun. I then got a Systema Gearbox, and at the time wanted a CNC lower, FCC dealer tried to sell me a complete gun. Notice a pattern here?

DTW for 350 dollars and then $900 in a replacement gearbox/boards/motor + mods is not worth your time. You should have bought a used PTW/FCC gun or bought the higher quality CTW MX3. The fit of the parts matter a surprising amount. The tolerances on the lower and motorcage are actually important (surprise) and so are things like the buffer caps and spring guides in for your cylinder. Any component that touches another is very finely tuned for tolerances (unlike AEGs) and you are mixing and matching Quality control, materials, and Dimensions.

IMO FCC is not a superior product to Systema. It is 80-95% as good and consistent in quality except for the motor which I am 50/50 on.

It is not like mixing Mega-blocks and branded Legos together were they are all dimensionally perfect or "close enough' that it won't matter. It -DOES- matter.

I don't recommend it, and i doubt many TW owner and tinkerers would either.

If you own a lot of RS items like converted live fire magazines that's another consideration, as the FCC magwell geometry will not fit converted live fire mags. All of my mags are converted as it was cheaper at the time.

CTW is the best clone
A&K has the best body/most solid but worse electronics
DTW/G&D would be my last choice

Good thing he's moving to calgary so you don't have to ship it to ENGLAND lol

The FCC on average has proven to not be superior to systema, and it bothers me that they CLAIM it's superior when we've found so many manufacturing defects, but the bottom line is;

Do you want an AK series PTW?
Do you want an HK416?
Do you want and SR25?
Do you want a $200 aftermarket motor that's actually GOOD?
Well then you don't really have a choice in brand lol
They do make great products, and the customer support is most often really good, they just need to consistently make great products which is a problem most airsoft companies share

Check your motor brushes, if they wear to the point the springs are no longer providing tension, it can cause the power to cut in and out

What is this "Magnetic Bolt Stop":

http://www.redwolfairsoft.com/redwol...ystema_PTW.htm

Can it be retrofitted to older PTW models? (ie, 2007/2008, etc)

It is an OEM part, probably for 2013 as it bears a Systema part number.

It probably can be retrofit.

Anybody know what it does? Basically, what the magnet is for? If it's to help to hold the catch closed till the magazine is actually empty, I'd consider trying this, because I've had the switch open, when the magazine wasn't actually empty.

That's probably what it does.

Bolt stops tend to to be open at most unfortunate of times.

Maybe it prevents the gun from shooting when there is no mag in the mag well.

I'm ignorant of all things systema but wouldn't a stronger spring help hold it down more?
