M16 Butt Plate Removal

M16 Butt Plate Removal

Hi, I just got a used M16 VN in the mail and I can't get the bloody butt plate off to put in a battery! The screw is plastic and im just stripping the heck out of then I try to remove it...

Am I missing something?
Any help apreciated

What brand of M16VN did you get? My TM M16 butt plate has metal screws and you just need to slide down the vertical post on top of the chequered plate to release the battery compartment cover.

Thanks for your help, I got it off.
Its a TM, it only has one screw on it and its plastic. Now that I got it off it looks like that the screw is just for show. I just had to slide the whole thing off.

TM M16 VN buttplantes slide off when you push them downards. the "screw" is just soft rubber or plastic to look like the real stock, it has no effect of stock removal.

Weren't there any compartment in the back of the stock in the M16 like there is on the M4/M16A2+?

That's for a cleaning kit.
I think they started those in later models once they found the first ones to be finiky and need lots of maintenance.
Not sure what model they started it on.

Yah, I learned that the hard way. I didnt get a manual (used gun) so I assumed you had to "unscrew" that plastic sccrew :banghead: Now that screw is "Mauled" :-(
