Old school AR opinions - Thoughts and recommendations welcomed

Good evening my fellow airsoft and chairsoft 'ers,

for the longest time I've been a fan of the old school ARs (the early "M4"s to some of you) and since getting into airsoft I've wanted to get one. I've only recently started looking around and thus far the G&P XM177E2 is the aeg that has caught my attention. The only thing I'd change on it is the barrel length and flash hider on it to an 11.5" or 14.5" barrel.

Yes I figure by now many of you are screamin "BHD Delta wann be!" You'd be 1/2 right. an aeg "replica" of one of the Delta operative's weapon would make me all giddy.

I'm looking into parts and gun basis to start off and starting to excel the costs on it, yes it'll be a good chunk of change out of my pocket. But this will be MY aeg.

So here where I ask all you come in. I welcome all your thoughts, opinions, rants, raves, vents, etc relating to the topic. "Is G&P the right basic to start off with? What would be the first upgrades or mods to do on it? Parts compatibility - there name brands I should steer clear of or embrace?

Have it 'gents

Thanks, Pogue

I actually like the CAR-15 as well. In fact I have a CAR-15 stock on my AR (it's built up to a Block I SOPMOD). Go for it man, it'll be unique on the field while it seems like everyone else is "Magpul ALL the things!".

I also got a bunch of MAG 120 rd. midcap VN style mags as well. Looks super slick on my SOPMOD.

They are super fun to run, light, simple, easy. I ran an M723 (the rifle the Delta guys where using in BHD, 14.5in M4 barrel, fixed carry handle upper, slim grips, aimpoint on carry handle) for years. Unique and fun to run.

The G&P would be a good start, if you want the Delta look, all you need is the 14.5in barrel and you are set. It has been my experience with G&P that you should stick to mostly G&P externals, luckily they make a front end set exactly as you are looking for, Redwolf should have it.

One of my best "Old School AR" is still my Kokusai CAR15 but since we are into new tech My Systema M723 PTW was the bomb till it died long time ago and has been replaced with my FCC XM177, the finish is so nice that I went and splurge on a VN era RS foregrip, stock and the RS triangle sight and unfortunately I loved it so much that it is my one and only shelf queen she is still a virgin never fired, not even violated by a battery.

As for G&P they do make a very nice CAR15, XM177 and a VNM16A1 which I have owned in the past.

What sort of batteries have you 'gents used with your set up?
I under that the hand guard is smaller then your standard M4 hand guard. From the videos I've seen thus far they say that a stick or panel type LiPo would fit but a standard brick type wouldn't.

Rear wire it with a tube battery.
A lipo 7.4 stick would be small enough.

oniwagamaru - I still wanna see your AR.
Despite having fondled it at NF2, I don't remember much about it for the time.

While all in all there does seem to be a lot of hype surrounding airsoft, I fail to see what the hype is about. Along with that then, I also fail to see what all the hype surrounding the best essay writing services is. I just fail to see why people tend to create such a hype over the little things!
