Question Is bringing a airsoft gun to Canada through a airport from China

I took a trip to china right now and I bought a black airsoft gun. Wondering if I can bring it back to Canada. Yahoo Answers didn't help much and the wording of the laws were confusing for me .Anyone willing to give me an answer?

Good news and bad news. First, the bad - you can't bring it back. Good news is that since you bought it in China, it was cheap and will be little loss of money to dispose of it there.

This would be a bad idea. When you get back to Canada get AV'd and buy one here. You'll pay more but you'll also avoid being charged for trying to smuggle things into the country.

What about completely taking it apart? like right down to the nitty gritty.

I have no idea if that would work or not, but I've gotten back into canada with butterfly knives and even razor blades.

Don't listen to me tho, just because i've gotten away with some stupid shit doesn't mean you will.

But maybe someone could give insight on if you take things apart completely.

You can import every part of the gun except the restricted item - usually the lower receiver for most AEGs, and the frame for pistols. And without a receiver / frame, your gun is useless.

and while I typed that message, the admins received the report and banned you. Hopefully others learn from your error *crossing fingers but NOT holding my breath*

Cool, the admins have already removed you...man you guys are on the ball today

You indeed did. You got lucky. That's all. And I can bet that it wasn't declared as "airsoft gun" on the customs slip. That would have gotten it automatically seized, orange tip or not. And if it wasn't declared correctly and the package had been opened by CBSA, then yes, that would have been rightfully treated an act of smuggling a prohibited item under false customs declaration.

And by posting this repeatedly, you're violating ASC rules repeatedly. You either don't get it, or you just don't give a shit about our forum rules our our country's laws.

EDIT: Seems Drake has cleaned the thread and the ASC banhammer has been swung.

Bringing an airsoft gun back to Canada from China in your luggage?

Not recommended.

The risk outweighs the reward substantially.

413xrocks200;

I, like everyone else here will offer you this advice, Which has been tried and tested by many people and is known to be the only course that can promise you will not recieve the 'rubber glove' of doom from your customs when you fly back into canada.

Don't.. they have a good chance of stopping you and taking the gun from you..

this isn't the worst part, the worst part is the minutes-to-hours that it takes for them to prove to themselves that what you have brought in is not a gun. Unfortunatly this time will be spent with the RCMP being 'not very nice' to you and asking questions about why you're importing weapons of mass destruction and wish to maim children, and if you get irate with them you'll get the tazer

and when you smell that cologne of 'o-fried-hair' you'll be wishing you threw the person who sold it to you under a big bus, and listened to the wise people on this board..

infractions handed out (Percuvius got an automated ban for racking up sufficient frequent infractor miles) and thread cleaned.

@413xrocks200: As mentioned, don't try smuggling it into the country. You can either get rid of it in China, or if you want to try your luck instead of just dropping it in the trash bin BE SURE TO DECLARE TO CUSTOMS (it's not smuggling if you declare it, the worse that'll happen to you in that case is they'll confiscate it). It might also help if you know how hard the gun is shooting (with .20g BBs).

Disassembling it and mailing it is okay except for the restricted parts (receiver). Trying to mail that without properly declaring it is also smuggling.

Just in case you think the smuggling bit is a joke, or we're just trying to be asses, read this: http://www.thebarrieexaminer.com/Art...aspx?e=2576188

If there was a good, easy way for individuals to import stuff, we'd all be doing it; we're just trying to keep new people from getting into a shitload of trouble.

'bout time that fool was banned

OP:

listen to these guys, even if you declared it, the customs will still confiscate it from you, disassembling it will not help either as it's been said already; the receiver is restricted and the gun ain't much use without it

just sell it and get av'd here when you get back and buy a new one

And if I may add, if it's to do with Airsoft, this is the place. Read the FAQs and threads here instead of relying on Yahoo Answers.

Cheers!

Not only is it illegal to bring it back into Canada but you've gotta be crazy to try and get that thing on plane! It's China, they won't charge you, they'll execute you!

By Chance do you know the Make and model of the Airsoft, are we talking about a rifle or a carbine, or is this a pistol? Depending on the actual value and type of Airsoft it might not be worth the hassle of even bothering to attempt to bring it in via declaration and just dispose of it in China (like I said early give it too a friend)
