why do you need to discharge your nimh cells? they don't need discharging.

If you have it why don't you try it, and if you don't, I suggest getting a 'Universal Smart Charger'.

well I have the charger, but I've always used Nicad batteries, but I'm going to be getting some NIMH batteries pretty soon and im wondering if I need a new charger or not, and its not just a discharger, its a charger/discharger.

Sorry, I read your post wrong. I thought you were asking about discharging. In which case, yes, that charger will also charge nimh.

NiMh batteries work more optimally if you do NOT discharge them after each use. It is recommended to cycle them periodically (for the average airsofter this can be once every couple of months. to cycle your battery you charge fully, then dis-charge fully, then charge again.

As a rule, NiMh batteries should be charged more often then not. That is just before a game, top them off, after a game, top them off. If you discharge them after every use as people do with Ni-Cads you will reduce the total life cycle and performance of the battery pack.
