10 Round M14 Mags

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if any of you know a place that sells, or how to mod a TM M14 mag (which replicate the 20 round mags) to look like a 10 round mag?

I want a lower profile mag as i think im going to go the sniper route with my TM M14.

Your thoughts?

Thanks to all who post,

D

I'm pretty sure you can just cut them open, shorten them and put them back together.

I was looking for "short AK" mags for a project and stumbled upon a page where the guy actually cut the mag open, lined up everything and glued it back together. I'll try to find the page if I can (sadly I didn't bookmark it).

you can stuff 10 BB's below the follower and spring to occupy the space and then shorten the spring.

what's the mag look like? with m4 plastic mags it's easy to do.

im not quite sure what you mean. I currently have the standard 20 round style TM M14 mags, and i want to know if i can shorten them to replicate the 10 rounders.

He's not trying to reduce the capacity to 10 rounds, he's trying to reduce the mag size so that it looks like a 10 round mag.

trying to go from the mag on the RIGHT
to the mag on the left

asking for mod help.

pry the two halves of a broken/shitty m14 mag and look at the internals and the spring guide. then chop, align, glue, and test to see if it works/fits

No existing product in the current market.

Modifications in the sense of cutting, re-aligning is not possible due to the curved s shape feed path.

Unless you design a new interior for the mag. Your SOL.

The section you need to remove is in the middle. You need to retain the top and bottom, these have the curved sections. If you are handy with a dremel and glue you can do it. Just make sure you have the fees path perfectly alligned or you will have feed issues. Steel outer cases with plastic internals are the easiest to mod.

Again, due to the nature of the S shape feed path, cutting down the middle will not help you.

You would need to make your own feedpath for the center path.

That would not be that hard with a dremel and some styrene pieces from a LHS. People build complete trucks out of scrap plastic... making a straight ramp can't be that hard...

Except for the fact that BB's could get jammed from any uneven surface inside the magazine.

They already jam up in manufactured mags with smooth surfaces, due to slight differences in width between the mag and follower, adding rough or uneven surfaces just multiplies the chances.

Its one thing to say "It cant be that hard" and another to actually do it.
