Cheap Chinese Sniper Rifle Not Feeding

Hey all,

I have about 6-8 hours invested in this guy's sniper rifle, now. I have researched the web as much as possible and I have experiment with hours of JB welding and epoxying and filing and fitting and test firing, well you get the idea.

I now, as last resort, refer to the Canada wide brain trust of gun doctoring knowledge.

The magazine seems to "pop" out a mm or 2 when the piston slams forward. The next round will not load unless you push up on the magazine with your fingers.

Here is some of what I have tried/done:

Inspected the magazine catch assembly for wear, none seen. Raised mag catch 0.5 mm using JB weld to increase the bed of the mag catch. Lowered cut in magazine 1mm using JB weld inside the magazine cut. This is as much as I can raise the mag and still have it lock into place. Still does not feed.

There is a little "bump" on the back end of the mag that pushes against the barrel to make sure the mag front is tipped into place. It looked slightly flattened so I built it up 1mm or so.

The gun still behaves exactly the same. If I push the mag up 1 or 2 mm with my fingers while I work the bolt a bb will feed.

Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

Strong elastic, or a velcro strip.

This is a common problem with airsoft Sniper's, but most do still feed. Don't bother with all those fancy mods, just use an elastic band.

Is it the stock mag? And did it not feed from factory?

Thundercactus: Yes it is the stock mag and it worked well until recently then it started this jumping down and misfeeding thing.

Steven: What exactly do you do with the elastic/velcro? Do you use it to jam the mag tightly into the slot?

If you physically hold the mag up in it's proper position does it still feed okay?

I would try and look for what pushes the mag out of place. It is possible that the barrel to stalk is loose and needs to be tightened.

If you push the Magazine up, and it feeds, having a strong elastic or velcro strap holding it up, it would continually feed, no?

You wrap it around the body/outer barrrel, and make sure it's over the magazine. By doing this, it will hold the Magazine into the well.

I'm thinking it's an L96.

But yeah...how do you expect people to help you without telling us what gun it is?

It is one of those cheap Swiss Arms M6.

Yes it feeds when the mag is pushed in about 2mm farther than my mods have accomplished.

Hi Venture!
Never thought I'd be giving advice to my local gun doc, but I spotted something today that might fix this issue for you! Hope this helps, it seems like someone else had a similar issue when doing a mod to make a K98, and the idea seems like it would work for you.

Here's a link to the pic.

And a second one showing the mag removed

NP, just remember it if/when I come to you to gets some work done on my AKS74U (I still need that spring reduced, and since it's a CYMA, it'll prolly need a gearbox de-grease)
