RS SVD Performance Issues

Hey all,

Just picked up a new-ish Real Sword SVD, and it's not performing great. I thought maybe it was just nervous, but, I lit some candles and whispered encouragement to it to no avail.

BBs are dropping off at an obscenely short range, barely hitting the 100ft mark. I've never had one of these guns before, but, considering my G&G AK will hit 200ft targets easily, it seems pretty weird. Gun seems to be cycling okay, and I've tried a couple batteries, so... What's next? I don't have a lot of experience with issues like this, so I'm not sure where to start diagnosing.

Could it need a new hop-up? I theorized that maybe air is escaping somewhere in the system, resulting in less pressure out the barrel, but, that could be made up nonsense.

Suggestions are appreciated!

If its new-ish you should start from the barrel going towards the gearbox. Check if the barrel is clean and not damaged. Then try playing with the hop up adjustment. Also make sure you are using good quality BBs. If all of that doesn't work then you need to disassemble the gun and start checking for broken/damaged parts. (nozzle, piston and spring come to mind)

usually hop problem. I mean RS guns come with pretty good hop rubbers, but they can still be upgraded.

Thanks guys, I'll start pulling it apart and see what I can find. I just wondered if it was a common issue with these types of guns or something, or if there was something specific I should look for.
