Finding/Securing a Field

Looking for input as to finding/acquiring/securing a field.

Things like: ideal topography, approaching land owners, best waiver format, ...
pretty much anything to do with this topic.

All input, pos./neg., appreciated. Thanks.

I definatly wouldn't go looking for any piece of land and just ask the owners. I'd ask around to my FRIENDS if they have a piece of land or if they know someone directly who does. When you involve friendship your a little less likely to get fucked over if someone gets a boo-boo on his property and stuff like that.

Agreed 100% with Mitch; ask your friends first and, dare I say it, last.

If you want to get involved with having games on a field that isn't already used for paintball or airsoft, you're going to want to make sure you ass it totally covered. I would almost suggest getting a lawyer to draft/review the contract or M.O.U between the two parties.

Hey nidan,

You know about Claybank, plus I have secured and used no less then 8-9 other places for Airsoft, and Paintball (long and short term)

I always use the direct approach to finding what I need. I find the location first, then I go after the owner for permission. You have to be very good, and fast at reading people. You have a very short time to make a good impression, and it better be the right one, or they will say no.

Sometimes when you do get a "no" it's for a good reason, even though it doesn't seem that way at the time. This happened to me a few times when I was opening one of my fields, but the location I ultimately secured was much better then the first ones anyway...so it worked out very well.

Thanks guys, Al, appreciate the input and shall keep an eye out for any new friends

that may have some land. Definitely need to focus on a stonger waiver, ie. a line saying "if you don't understand what you have read, do not sign this waiver." And believe it or not, there a very few areas.......oh, just thought of one, car junk yard, nearby......
