He's lying through his teeth, It's an airsoft gun no doubt and definitely not real steel in any way. I "think" I can make out "ASGK" on the side. Appears to be an old school Western Arms NBB but I'm not 100% sure on that.

NO.

Not possible or ATF would be all over your ass. In fact WE had ATF all over their ass at one point until they retooled all of their mfg. equipment (and that's not cheap to do either especially with stuff already in production and stores upon stores of already made stuff in a warehouse). I know were not American but it still applies, CBSA and RCMP would be all over any companys ass that you could convert RS to airsoft.

I would not want to be anywhere near a man shooting 5.56 out of a gun made of cheap cast zinc-aluminum alloy. Or at the very least, I'd like all the PPE I could get. Seriously, less talking, more listening. You're 14, don't burn all the bridges in the sport four years before you can even start playing it/buying equipment.

Sorry guys, maybe I should have started a new thread instead of digging up this old one. The 5.56 issue has been resolved, nobody's thinking about converting a RS AR into Airsoft or the other way around anymore.

The reason I revived this thread was because I was selling my TM M4 on Craigslist and I have this guy who is offering a trade on what he claimed was RS converted to some CO2 non blowback airsoft pistol. I didn't think it was possible, and if it were, why would you butcher a perfectly good Colt? Anyway, Danke posted this:

http://www.umarex.com/uxc.php?load=v....8096&deptid=1

it might be some sort of variation of this product, but either way, I'm with the others, I call bull$hit for the conversion from RS to Airsoft.

When he started going off about how it was his grandpa's gun, and how he got permission to sell it, and he has serial numbers, I started to get a bit suspicious. What really did it in for me was this:

"Personally it would be easier because selling a real fire arm is illegal and since it's a real firearm turned into a airsoft, it would grasp more attention"

WTF is this guy on?

Typical Craiglist scammer wanabe I'd say?
Definitely trying to screw some people over with this, which is ridiculous, because at that point I'd just say I have a RS for sale and never mail the item, which comes to the same thing in the end...

All that said... I have seen a WE M4 made with a 80% RS milled lower, finished to take the WE trigger Group, with a RS upper..with a WE barrel, RS buffer tube.. the finished item was about 80% RS and about as close as you can get to a RS converted to AS

Edit: There is a difference between using RS parts on airsoft and changing a RS to an airsoft...
