Backpack = Necessary?

Hey there, I guess this is more just a matter of personal preference but how many of you take a backpack to store extra kit to airsoft games?

I'm new, and I'm trying to get ready for my first season. Is a backpack necessary? Or will I be fine with my vest?

If I'm gonna need a pack, what are some good ones/good places to get one. Any help would be great. Thanks.

You don't need one.

If you do go the direction of a backpack then you might want to check out

CPgear, or wheelers, or whatever it's called now. theres a link in the top taskbar under canadian retailers its at the bottom of the list they have backpacks in OD, and CADPAT.

Most 8-12 hour milslims I'v been to, you just leave all your food and stuff at the respond point, and whenever you get elimanated, just sit down for 15 mins and eat lunch, reload, and get moving again. The only reason you would need a backpack out on the feild, would be to store peices/parts for the mission objective, or if your just hardcore and bring everything but the kitchen sink with you (which is a real pain in the ass when your out on the feild)

You just want to pack as light as possible, and it gets heavy with just the basic stuff.

Erik
As an experienced airsofter, you'd think that you'd know it was respawn point, not respond point

IMO, for a normal game day, a buttpack to store some extras is all you need.

MILSIM, from the short 1 day ones I've been on, I have some extra kit in a smll ALICE pack. Carry it on me when we move our biv/spawn, etc point up. Then dump the extra kit there an only carry what you need for the next objective, patrol, etc.

If you don't like butt packs *like moi* Always use a C9 pouch. How ever, I like to carry patrol bag with me on some games. Don't always do it, buts it's always fun once in a while

FUN yup...hell I gave an excuse in the upcoming stargate game to use em...it's personal choice in the end..what look your going for. most of your crap you keep at respawn and safe zones. my OD pack I can strap a P90 on so I also use the pack to cart spare mags that just don't fit on the vest due to my primary weapon requirements (locaps take more room!).

If you're planning on playing any of the local 24-hour games, a backpack or daypack is almost a necessity. Walking all the way back you your car for shit sucks ass and lets down your teammates who are depending on you to be ON THE FIELD, and bringing day-glo coolers and totes full of crap onto the gaming area is lame (unless you have a tent or mess area). Carry your shit on you and you never have to leave the gaming area, which can be huge depending on where we play.

You don't need a huge pack, either. Something in the 25-35 litre range will do nicely. Think about the stuff you'll need to pack in a day-long (12 hour) game:

raingear
water
eats
bug spray
propane
ammo
ammo loader
extra batteries
sunblock
possibly a wooly-pully (spring/fall) for early morning or early evening
Ranger blanket if you're planning on resting, or to make a quick shelter

You gonna pull a half hour walk back to your car to get your raingear, or to get another battery? What a waste of time, not to mention letting down your teammates.

Besides, get a good peice of gear and you can use it for your school bag. To give you an idea, I use one of these, which I'll be happy to show you if you turn up to n00b day onthe 18th:
