3 point sling + M14?

Hey folks, would a G&P 3 point sling be usable on a rifle like the TM M14? I've got no experience with slings whatsoever, and it's not like there are piles of reviews and articles on the subject. Right now I'm not even sure which end of the sling is the front... :-?

I originally got the sling for a intended CA33E purchase, but right now there's the possibility that the TM M14 would actually cost less. I don't want to have to shell out for a traditional sling if the 3 pointer would work...

Thanks in advance.

3 point is more typicaly used for guns like the g36, m4, mp5, to make them easier to bring up to action position from ready, by utilizing the configuration of the sling to hold it in front of your chest.

On a battle rifle such as the m14, the purpose of a 3 point is totally defeated, because it would be very awkward to change positions, and the sling would most likely get in the way, or pull you down as you try to bring the rifle up.

So, to answer your question, yes, you can put a 3point on the M14(you can attach a 3point to anything with hardpoints) but it isn't very practical.

A 3 point sling would work fine on a M14.

3 point slings/patrol slings hold the rifle horizontal across your torso, great for patroling. One downside to the 3 point sling is the part of the sling that runs along side the rifle can get in the way of the boltcatch etc.

2 point sling is your everyday sling and can hold the rifle in the same position as the 3 point if you have the right sling.

1 point is made for CQB, you will almost always have the weapon at the ready so anything more than a 1 point can get in the way. Think shorter shotguns, MP5's, carbines etc.

Your problem with your G&P, is the attachments probably won't work with the M14

Blackhawk Sling

The patrol sling in the picture is made by Blackhawk and is quite reasonable in price... It works on most rifles and is easy to use/attach... Keeps the wpn in tight when not in use and you can easily snap it up (one hand if you like) when circumstances dictate...

If it's the ones I'm thinking of, it would still be a one point.

Naw, if I end up with a M-14, I'm slapping a SOP mod on it at my earliest convinence. I'm too short for a stock M-14 and I hate jokes about over-compensation.

you do realize the TM and G&G M14's motors are angled back into the grip not down like on other AEGs.

You'll have to buy the Stat/Guarder M14 SOPMOD when/if it comes out.

That's the idea. I'm betting on "when" rather than "if"...
