Gumby, it does take some time and patience - but I find sand is the best filler for replica ESPAI plates.

Just use your hands and "mush" it into the hole.

Once it is filled - you will be laughing

Best of luck - let me know if you need any tips, etc.

When you knock on the sand filled plate, does it sound hard like a ceramic plate, or sound like a sandbag?

That what is most satisfying with plaster filled plate, they feel and sound like the real thing.
And in a way, are fragile like the real thing.

Hard to describe - but the sand filed plates are very solid (especially when filled to the top correctly) - definitely not anything like a sandbag.

The reason I don't like the plaster method is because they will eventually become brittle down the road and break with impact.

I realize this may "replicate" a real ESPAI plates fragility - but since we are utilizing these plates for training purposes, I much rather my plates be able to take some abuse and retain their shape and internal structure.

That is why training ESPAI plates are more malleable - so they can take a licking and keep on ticking

It's great to see more people interested in running real-weight plates. It makes you really look at your rig and how it is set-up. Do I REALLY need this pouch? etc.

I just run two steel plates. Indestructible, multi strike and fill out the carrier nicely.

I'm running the mock real weight training plates I found at a local army surplus. LOVE THEM. and they make me lose more weight while running my ass around.

I got point blank training plates, and they are awesome. I only ran them for a skirmish game so far, but after 1 hour my upper body ached and I broke a good sweat. Motivated me to work out more and tune my body to handle the plates instead of take them out. I probably will never take them out, the added realism is what I was looking for when I began airsofting.

Perfect thanks.. Some extra realism weight would be nice. Do the training Sapis weight in at the same as the real ones?

Aprx 49.95 each 1 front +1 back. Toy Soldier also makes inserts for the sides.

I own a set of real LV4 plates but I would never use them in a game (risk of micro fractures, heavy, cumbersome.)

When I did play I used replicas.
