This thread certainly has me paranoid now regarding whether the CASV frontend I ordered from Hong Kong will make it through. Technically it should be fine just like your mags should have been.

folowing to http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca/publicati...9-13-2-eng.pdf, there's nothing that say mags are prohibited goods, unless they contain bullets imitation, m4/m16 mags doesn't!!!

Yeah, CBSA does make mistakes though. Things that aren't supposed to be seized get taken all the time. That's what the appeal process is there for. It's too bad it's so clogged up it took Ken 22 months to get his stuff back.

After reading the pdf here http://www.cbsa-asfc.gc.ca.......

I'm wondering if they could apply the bolded section to any and all accessories we might purchase for airsoft guns? Anyone with a better understanding of legalese able to further clarify?

Quote:
Prohibited device:
(a) any component or part of a weapon, or any
accessory for use with a weapon that is prescribed
to be a prohibited device;

(b) a handgun barrel that is equal to or less
than 105 mm (approximately 4.1 inches) in length,
but does not include any such handgun barrel that
is prescribed where the handgun barrel is used in
international sporting competitions governed by
the rules of the International Shooting Union;
(c) a device or contrivance designed or intended
to muffle or stop the sound or report of a firearm,
e.g., silencers;
(d) large-capacity cartridge magazines prescribed
by regulation. Generally, cartridge magazines are
limited to five rounds for centre-fire
semi-automatic rifles or shotguns and ten rounds
for semi-automatic handguns, with certain
exemptions for rare and valuable magazines (see
Appendix G); or
(e) a replica firearm.

I just called the officer that seized my mag boxes, and it said the mags could be modified to make them a real magazine???

it said "that's in a grey area .where the same item could be seized and sometimes not!!"

there are the mags (I ordered 2 of these boxes) http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=280238487274

Thats just the thing, its all about how they interpret it. If they wanna seize it, they can seize it. Sorry to hear about your loss.

Dispute it. I've gotten 4 boxes of those just last week.

You might be able to dispute it still. Not sure how easy/hard/impossible it is to convert an airsoft magazine to real steel, would have to ask one of the real steel guys around here.

It can't. A real magazine has lips for holding the rounds in. You can't just weld lips to the side of an airsoft mag shell. If you were going to do that, you'd just fabricate entire mags from the ground up.

Not to mention full size AR mags are perfectly legal in Canada, they're just limited to 5 rounds and modified as such. The magazines he ordered can currently hold 0 rounds of 5.56mm, and will never be able to functionally hold any rounds of 5.56mm. Hell, it isn't even the correct size for a real AR mag, which is around an inch longer.

Speak on brotha!

Unfortunately you got a dip-shit inspector. Call the number,
file a verbal claim and they will open a case. The parcel plus
initial case will be passed to better qualified officer for review.
He or she will call you, or you can call the new officer when
you get another letter, if it's not already in your favor. I've
never had any trouble with the 2nd level of the CSBA, and
Saint is right so you should be fine if you hound them politely.

just put some silicon oil (2-3 drops) and shake them abit (what I did) and it's perfect. Do this once to every mag the day before a game

Lube them, couple of drops of oil along with the first BBs, top them of and dump a few times.

It might be a feeding issue, but it sounds like a sticky mag IMHO.

FYI, this was not the best place to ask but meh...
