SWAT movie (chopper downer)
Does anyone know what kind of gun the terrorist use to down the chooper in the recent SWAT movie? It looks like a high cal. sniper rifle with a some kind of silencer "pod" on the barrel?

I'm not sure what kind of gun, but I believe the thing at the end is a wieght. .50 cal rounds give a bit more recoil than a 9mm.

Umm....
E = mv^2 (like grade 11 physics) so increasing the weight of the gun has zero effect on the amount of recoil, it just reduced the valocity at which the gun hits your shoulder but increases its weight, thus the same energy. Most likely was supposed to be a silencer, I dont know anything about silencers on large caliber guns so I cant comment, but if I remember correctly it was a .50 cal of some type. |

It was one of the AI rifles, but the round he was loading wasn't .50BMG (so not an AW50) ... 7.62x51 or 338 lapua one I guess.
Suppressor looked like some home made POS can. IMO this was all nothing more than movie junk.

Your talking about the movie SWAT that came out about 3 or 4 years ago?

The silencer could be real. From memory, it's off center with the barrel so prevent from obscuring the scope. Could be a real silencer IMO.

Okay, so I bothered looking at it again... the rounds look bigger than I remembered em the first time. Upon closer examination, I'd say it's a McMillan 50 with a thumbhole stock.
A few screeshots for comparison: (Also notice the slight goof: one scene he's shown taking the top round, but a moment later when he's shooting it's the bottom round that's been removed.) And here's a McMillan 50 with the thumbhole stock: http://www.bawo-custom-guns.de/impress.html And an AI AW-50 on a similar angle as the movie screenshot, clearly not the same gun:

I'd go with the McMillian and a wonky silencer thing.
