Sure, if you have one, I'll take it and see if I can fix it up. My lathe should be here this week as well. If you have brushes for, send them as well, and if it all works, I'll send it back to you and you can test it out.

I ordered some brushes from an R/C shop, but I don't know if they'll work as they haven't arrived yet.

Once we cleaned one of his mags out, and tried his BBs, breaks were fewer, but still occuring. He was using Madbull 0.25g BBs, and when we tried the Metal Tech in his mag, it ran fine the whole mag.

So, I decided to do a crush test on the Madbull BBs. When I crushed it to an easy stop with the pliers, the Madbull split in 3 or 4 areas, and the BB was deformed to 4.02 mm. The Metal Tech when tested split once only, but deformed to only 5.10 mm. The Madbull made a little "POP" sound when crushed, while the Metal Tech was virtually silent.

I would not recommend Madbull for a PTW, or any other gun with a steel nozzle or chamber.
Found my answer. Thanks McGuyver ! You're my favorite PTW tech support !

Still haven't received yet my PTW, but the motor problem... does a lot of people got that issue ?

Found what cause all this !

480 motor is the older one.
490a is for the MAX one. Planetary gears and Hi-Voltage Batt...
490b is for HI-VOLT. but not for planetary gears... not the MAX one as I can understand. SCK 08.

Seems that the one for MAX 08 PTW are burning a lot for... unknown reason. Dammit. Anyway... the only way to prevent this... is to send it to Tackleberry in UK ! lol Seriously... this guy seems to have found the way to prevent the motor failure that a lot of PTW customers has encountered. Anybody here in CA can do the same job ?

Mmmmm... that's pretty odd that Systema did a poor job on this when we pay the high price for this.

EDIT : Here's more info about the motor !

Their release for the 490 motors (http://www.zshot.com/Download/PF-490.pdf) says the 490A is "High Cycle with High Output" and the 490B is "High Torque with Energy Saving". The fact that Empire interprets that to mean the 490A is a "power" motor is their business.

When you look at what the motors really are, the facts are clear based on basic RC motor info. The only difference between the A and B motors is the number of winds on the rotor (490A with 11 winds and 490B with 14 winds). Fewer winds gives you more RPM with less torque, more winds gives you more torque with lower RPM. It's a trade-off of one performance characteristic for another.
Press releases and marketing are one thing, the real world performance and facts are another. Personally, I go with facts.
About all the maintenance for a PTW.

Like I see in the forums...

- Clean the inner barrel.
- Don't have to put the Systema grease for a long time.
- Don't put Silicon oil on the hop up or inside the mechbox... also inside the inner barrel.
- Clean the Motor ( Brushes and comm ) to remove dirt and debris...
- Use the correct power with the Cylinder.
- The mags if they don't feed well. I have to dismantle them and stretch the internal spring.

Do I forget something important that I should be aware of ?

I tried my PTW today. Very nice ! Wow ! But I've experience something bad !

In the magazine, you got the little black BB when your mag is empty. Just popped up of two mags ! Been able to retrieve it but I'm not sure I'm gonna be able to find it next time...

is it normal ? How can I fix that for not happening again ?

From the very first post in this thread:

Remove the factory hourglass-shaped mag follower, and install 2 BBs (bright coloured for easy empty mag ID) work better, but don't glue them together. Keep them loose.

Thanks. That's what I'll do... I found a lot of answer in www.systema-ptw.com ! That's not like a standard AEG... You got a lot of difference and maintenance is different !

I have a fix for PTWs with hop-ups that seem to not work (ie adjustment does nothing). The 2007 and back guns use a square o-ring to seal the barrel to the chamber. When you insert the barrel during assembly, significant force is required. It's easy to over-shoot the barrel key guides, and a natural response is to just pull the barrel back a bit and insert the barrel key. What ends up happening is that the chamber is not as smooth as the barrel, so you end up over-inserteing that square o-ring.When you pull back on the barrel, the o-ring remains in place and squashes against the adjuster. It provides enough friction that the cushions can't overcome it, and your hop-up is essentially fixed in place. If you try to screw the adjuster up, you end up deforming it slightly, and the roller cants to one side a little (and this causes problems).

I've noticed this on my own back-up M4, and a local fellow who bought a used PTW had this issue at a game on Saturday. I think alot of guys who complain about lack of range or ineffective hop-up may have this problem. For 2008 guns, Systema uses a smaller round o-ring to do the job. Likely, it was a problem for them during assembly as well, as it requires probably 50+ pounds of force to insert that barrel, and it's real easy to over-shoot the key guides.

I'll take some pics later and show you what I mean.

Let me know. After 2 years and almost 50K on the CQB, maybe this is a maintenance item that should be done.

why should you not glue the 2 bbs to make a follower Brad? I have done this (several others as well) and we have had good results.

I just got my Stag/Vltor lower today as well...
I now have all the pieces to complete my set-up!

A very special "THANK YOU" goes out to Beowulfe for parting with his RS Vltor VIS...he is a PTW-god!

Gun-porn will go up as soon as I have a chance to put it all together...in about 1-2 weeks!
