Okay, I'm confused now.

From what I've seen, the NOVA kit has a bit more blue-ish tone to it, while the PGC/Pro-Win has a more smooth, black finish. I can be all wrong here, it's just my experience. |

Hello everyone,
I have a spare WE Baby Hi-Capa 3.8 lying around and I was thinking of converting it into a 5.1. I was trying to come with the parts I would need and came up with some unanswered questions... So obviously I would need a 5.1 slide, full-size outer + inner barrel and full-size recoil guide + spring. Do I need to change any of the slide internals? BBU, loading nozzle, hop-up unit/housing, anything? Also I want to install a full-size grip. The one on it now should just come of like any other Hi-Capa grip (haven't tried it yet), question is do I need a different trigger sear spring? What about the grip safety, will that fit a full-sized grip or do I need a longer/bigger one? Same question goes for the hammer spring/mechanism. (I know that I will need to use the magazine from either a 4.3 or a 5.1) And while I'm at asking questions: Are the trigger and the hammer spring housing that come with the Tanio Koba grip set plastic or a metal? Anything I missed? |

PGC Delta Elite / Mk4 s80 silver kit looks a bit white-ish under bright light,
that time I felt like buying a plain white MBK It's totally different from SD Delta Elite slide for WA I owned long time ago which had more 'silver characteristics' than the PGC one. I don't know about the newer PGC ones like silver warrior kit, but from what I've seen from pics on the net, it seems more silver to me. Frame fitment was O.K, need to file stock leaf spring about 0.6 mm off the width, sanding slide stop hole and mag release hole a bit (it will vary depending on aftermarket cosmetic parts you use, I suppose). Inner frame installment is a drop-in fit as long as you align them correctly, and the kit includes a screw to lock the Inner frame on to the slide (the stock marui screw is longer, this one is shorter) The Thumb safety strangely fits in without any wiggle (that wiggle is when you fit / disassemble the stock grip safety from a stock frame), and what I don't like is when you switch to safety position, it is much more loose than, say, stock TM. The MSH fitment (i'm using stock TM MSH) is very tight, which I think is great! Don't need to file anything here. Problem came along when you install the grip bushing set that came with the kit. They (yes, all four of them) will block the magazine inside the frame so you need to trim the bushings height about 1.5mm to have the magazine properly inserted inside. I don't know what was their purpose of having overlengthed bushings, when all they do is blocking the magazine insertion. So all in all, I like the pgc/pro-win kit for my TM. P.S : I haven't fit in the slide yet, hopefully there's not much problems in the process. Also props for iLLusion for the detonics trigger compatibility as I had it to replace the stock trigger |

How are you achieving these impressions? Are you seeing them in person? Or are you basing it off web photos? In my experience of having both under my hands in a colour correction room (I'm a photographer and designer by trade), the PGC/Pro-Win kits actually have a very slight purple to the black colour. The overall finish is also very smooth and almost semi-gloss. This is not necessarily bad, as it perfectly matches the Tokyo Marui OEM controls. The Nova kit, on the other hand, has a very flat/matte surface finish. The tone and shade result is not the same as the Tokyo Marui OEM controls/components. This can be resolved if you are planning on upgrading to Nova equivalent steel parts. You are correct in noticing a slight blue shade to the colour of the Nova kits, but as a point of realism: real guns also have a blue tint when they are "blued." The only difference, is that a blued gun is generally glossy, whereas this is matte. I believe there are ways to matte a blued gun, but it is not as common as leaving the polished black look to it. For those reasons, as well as issues on fitment, overall look and dimensions, I would personally choose Nova over PGC/Pro-Win. Nova kits have a very flat black finish with a slight lean towards blue. - Slide - Recoil Rod Bushing - Front/Rear Sights - Outer Barrel - Inner Barrel - Recoil Rod - Recoil Spring - Receiver - Grip - Main Spring Housing - Any other controls The parts list is significant enough that I'd probably just recommend buying a second pistol as a 5.1 to begin with. It's die-cast aluminum. I personally don't like them, as the edges are rough. |

I've only seen a PGC in person, so I was referring to the photos of your Kimber Warrior (NOVA). I should have known better, since my Prime P226R kit is exactly the same - looks very blue when photographed. I already have full NOVA controls, mag catch, slide stop etc. Only the barrel bushing is a LCT. (Unfortunately, I broke one of the "knobs" on the ambi safety, so I will have to order a new one. Dammit.) Fitting you say... How much fitting is required if opting for using the NOVA kit with my SD chamber & outer barrel assembly? |

The only exception to the rule, is if both items are shot side by side in the same frame, or if the photographer explicitly states that both items were shot during the same session with a locked white balance and using very consistent lighting. No idea, I've never tried that combination. RacingManiac can answer this for you, as I know he has a setup like this. |

Its not that much work....primarily is just to get a smoother transition from the chamber lugs to the slide lugs...using a needle file or something to bevel the edges on the slide and the chamber. I have done the same work to 2 guns and 4 chambers thus far(swapped a few times for the right marking chamber). SD + Nova works pretty well together once fitted, I have better success with that vs using PDI chamber/barrel.

As far as the finish goes, even all Nova kits are not necessarily the same. I have 2 kits from them thus far and the Kimber is more "black" and the SFA is more "blue"
(The SFA is for sale...lol) |

Thanks for the added info RM.
Also, has anyone had problems with Guarder HFV's? 2 of mine just "blew out". When I gassed up the magazines, the moving portion of the valve just shot out the back of the magazine, releasing all the gas. I guess the O-ring at the end of it is too small... but is just seems weird. Edit: Might have fixed it with the O-ring from the stock valve. Time will tell. Edit2: Swapping the rearmost O-ring with the one from the stock valve does indeed seem to fix the issue. The stock O-ring is a bit larger and considerably harder. Maybe an easy fix to a nasty problem. Last edited by fyra; March 22nd, 2011 at 15:45.. |

First time I've heard of that problem. Let us know how it holds up. You were using propane?

I'd say it's around 130-140 psi. Didn't want to try them with the Guarder PUG after that. (220 psi, according to container.) |

Doing target practice with my WE 5.1 Type R Hi-Capa the other day, and the slide jammed back at the disassembly point. It happens sometimes due to the hammer, but then I noticed two things:
1. It kept doing this after every shot until slapped forward 2. The half-cock and grip safety stopped working. So I took it down, and discovered to my horror that the plastic frame had cracked where screwed together under the safety, so the two back halves were spreading every time the hammer was cocked and there was a crack going through the right rearmost slide rail. So I guess I need a new frame now. Any suggestions for an affordable metal frame? I did check ebairsoft, but I'm not sure if I'm actually allowed to import any, and I don't exactly have a very big budget for this sort of thing. |

Hi guys, is anyone tried RA_Tech Steel Slide combinations with CO2 mag from Kjw in your Marui Hi-Capa? the slide it self cost $275 before shipping.
i have tried CO2 Magazine in my Marui with hybrid slide and 170x recoil spring, blowback is fantastic and more consistant compare with Green Gas. Just wondered before i buy one of those steel slide if anyone tried before, any comments? thanks andy Last edited by xl1; March 27th, 2011 at 07:45.. |

My blowback housing on TM hi capa 5.1 kinda screwed up. The thread for the screw has worn up, so The screw won't tighten the housing anymore. WHat I do in the mean time is filling up the thread hole with super glue, so more material is built up in the thread hole, and then screw it back in. It is actually quite tight.
My friend has a spare TM 1911 blowback housing, Can I use this as a replacement? |
