The comfort of a real one, especially with the added weight of nods and counterweight, combined with the quality makes it worth your money if you're going to put a few grand of optics dangling off the front. Own The Night, CTOMs, TNVG are all places my guys have ordered from for OPSCORES, when you compare a real one to your door for ~300 to a clone for ~140, you get your value from legitimate kit.

As far as looks go, I find Protecs look goofy, like you should be doing white water rafting or something in them. You definitely pay a little bit for the OPSCORE name, but I don't think it's bad value by any stretch.

I'm talking about the difference between real and repro. As for experience I have seen a repro vas shroud included with a replica ballistic crack along one of the corners. I'm guessing this is because of the metal that was used. Then again I have seen a real norotos arm break in half from being dropped.

Speaking of the Pro Tec, they are actually pretty good but the shroud is going to be separate. I pretty much agree with ShelledPants, clone helmets are shit.

The base jump, which is basically your entry level ops-core helmet, has a built in plastic shroud which can and will support the weight of a ton of NVG's on the market and their respected mounts.

As Six by Ten said, that whole package can be had for $300, and is very worth it. At this point I would order directly from Ops-Core, as the production wait times for the bump's isn't that long. Pro tec's require a bunch of modifications to get them nvg ready, this includes the shroud and quite possibly an upgraded harness system so that it is comfortable over long periods of time.

Ops-Core cover?

I just picked up an Ops-Core Base Jump Military helmet (black). It's uber comfortable. All I need now is for someone to make a cover for it in ACU to match my BDU. Is anyone besides First Spear doing that kind of cover? Will an Airframe cover work with the Ops-Core?

An airframe cover would be too big for a base jump.
I don't know of any other companies doing covers, but I am sure they are out there.

You should use measuring tape as a counterweight.

Where does a guy get a counter weight and one of those nice lights for the back of the helmet?
