I think what he was referring to was back when we were the only NATO country still wearing OD combats as our principle field uniform. Unlike the rest of the world that had adopted camo.

Also, the US Marine MTTs wear woodland MARPAT. And the Brits often wear Woodland Smocks in the Green Zone in Helmand.

I would love to know, thanks! They are really great looking and (I assume since he is using them in active duty) probably very comfortable and useful.

Vickers combat gloves, One Shot Tactical carries them and there's a few guys at my unit that wear them.

Yes I'am. Still have a piece of kit from my issue. I got it in 93, Gore Tex bivy bag in standard issue OD Green.

If anyone recalls pic's from OP Desert Storm and Op Desert Shield will recall that we didn't have any form of desert combats. And if I recall correctly they had to buy the white brim hats from Tilly.

It will be interesting to see what new CadPat kit will come out with the formation of the MRC in Comox. That is if they are still following through with that.

CadPat flotation vests?

During Desert Storm, Canucks were sent over under the UN flag and issued with British desert DPM. Same thing happened when we were first going into Afghanistan, there were recce groups issued with the desert DPM instead of the olive and CADPAT TW.

I've seen pictures of Canadian snipers using DPM in the mountains of Afghanistan, but not normal troops.

We had OD Combats and Tilley Hats in Saudi and Qatar. Tan Combats were issued in Somalia (issued while in theater) along with Tilley Hats but bush caps and Berets were the head dress of choice. DDPM has been covered.

I thought only Snipers were issued Desert Combats, and I thought they were US Army Tri-Colour?

Was it snipers? I just remember being told that recce was issued the desert DPM early on, might have been snipers. I might have a picture on my harddrive at home.

As for the DPM during the Gulf War, I'd be lucky to find a picture now. There was a book I read during high school about the CF, and one section covered the Gulf War, and included pictures of troops deployed following the initial invasion wearing desert DPM with the colored flag sewn on the shoulder.
