Really? Damn, I would've totally gone with that too. The gun pictured was something I purchased for pretty much next to nothing, so i've been working along with what i've got.

Just need to figure out how to fix the front sight on more securely, it's got the threading torn out like they usually do. Also having issues with keeping the lower handguard on, doesn't have the tab to lock the grip retainer against the receiver.

you could always use a tap and rethread that thing to fit a slightly larger screw?

Thats the current plan, May just end up stripping again, which would kinda suck. I was thinking of doing that in combination of epoxy but that would make it difficult to disassemble the front end.

that would suck if need arised. I don't know much about SRC's metal/build quality (poor, I presume, since you are afraid it will strip again). Maybe a combination of helicoil (they make a self-tapping kind too!) and thread locker would work better.

It's still available for pre-order, but it will be mad pricey.

There's also the cheaper version, but nice in that it's a more realistic design and with some of your weathering skills, I'm sure you could make it look 99% right.

My LCT AK74, formerly the woody model, now readied for the new season with new AK74M Poly furniture (non folder stock - LCT AK74 has full stock tangs built into the receiver, no provision for folding stock), in an all stock trim. All black, basic and understated, should do me just fine, for daylight use. Significantly lighter heft, than with the wood trim. Wood was starting to look rather battered/repeated wet-soak immersion splitting, so took it all off for now in order to repair, refinish, and weather correctly, for display purposes.

I am still tempted to 'tacticalize' it.. but if i were to go that route, i think an AK105 would be the better base, to do it.

Just waiting for the correct PBS-1 to finish up my LCT AKMSU to a fantasy tactical rendition, for night time use. Will post that up later - hopefully with better quality photos.

I actually got an AK with no rails. I'm having an identity crisis.
