Be very careful if you use creatine when you work out. It doesn't help you build muscle, what it does it make it so that you don't feel your muscles get sore and tired, so you can work out longer. The trouble is that you have to know when to stop otherwise you could do serious damage, so unless you get a professional opinion on how to use it safely, don't.

Note: Creatine is not recommended by any medical professionals i have talked too. The problem with it, is 3 things. If you stop working out, the extra in your system will turn to fat (Ive seen it happen), 2, creatine can have a negative effect on you liver in some cases, 3, as was stated, doesn't help build muscle, but rather decrease recovery time (if i remember correctly something to do with extra water in the muscles to combat lactic acid build up).
Just a set lifting routine, and the use of protein and vitamin supplements can make a big difference

Also keep in mind.. Muscle is built, when tiny tears are created, then healed... like a scab, cept microscopic. Push yourself through the pain, and enjoy the damage.

Absolutely untrue. Creatine's primary purpose is to donate a phospate to ADP (adenosine diphospate) to convert it to ATP (adenosine triphosphate), which is the primary source of energy for cellular activity. Our cells can only store so much ATP. Excess creatine in the body is converted into creatinine which gets processed by the kidneys and excreted as urine. People get fat for only one reason. When your caloric intake is greater than caloric usage, these excess calories are stored as fat. Stopping working out increases fat in two ways. 1) You are not burning those extra calories through work (lifting, running, etc.) 2) Stopping working out causes muscle to atropy (get smaller). Muscle mass has an effect on a persons resting metabolic rate. More muscle means that higher metabolic rate, therefore more calories used while doing nothing. Since you become a girly man when you stop working out, your muscles get smaller and your body requires less calories to function normally. Therefore caloric usage to intake ratio gets smaller, and therefore, girly man gets fat. |
