I like beat up as well. I've never seen a real steal that looked as clean as airsoft guns, at least after been used for a good while.
I think I'm going to end up duracoating this next project though |

Looks nice. Personally, I think VLTOR (or its airsoft ripoff equivalent) makes the best looking AR uppers. I like those sharp angles as opposed to the standard AR frame with rounded features.
Looks like you have a gap between the receiver & the grip? Paint, even with a primer coat on aluminum is never going to be great. The best color retention and wear resistance on aluminum will be hard anodized and dyed & sealed. I think most airsoft frames from airsoft manufacturers are just powder coated on the aluminum. You could actually buy those touchup pens that blacken aluminum, either the cheapo method using a perm marker (that looks sorta purple) or RS stuff from birchwood casey that actually oxidizes the aluminum. Its a little weird to mount it that far forward, but generally the target accusation is increased the further forward the red dot is. I mount my Eo-Tech on the RIS and find I get on target quicker then if its mounted on the upper receiver.

Yeah, point was to mount it forward, and it's as high as it is primarily so I can wear my full face protection and still aim through it easily. Also it goes over top of the angled sight while allowing it to be as far forward as possible too. Added plus is the extra weight is directly over the forward grip so feels balanced and solid.

Post updated with build parts.
I should post up my GBBR one day . . .maybe. |

I thought it was a Fortis the forward slanted cooling slots looked familiar but hard to tell when looking on a cell phone lol.
You should post up a GBBR I triple dog dare you lol I only run GBBR's but made respect and love for your AEG builds, but definitely eager and curious to see what magic you work on a WE GBBR. |

No offense but its a little wierd looking lol.
Well, together with that funny high cap mag along with the very high and very forward mounted red dot and funky buffer tube stock, you certainly get points for being creative and most certainly different from the vast majority of the m4s/ARs around which are mostly draped in magpul and Noveske. |

I wanted to do something different. The sight is the way it is so I can wear full face and still see through it also it sits over the rapid transition sights. The hicap is more because it's acting as a stand for the pic. however you can buy same style mag real world. This build was for usability and reliability as a highspeed outdoor setup but still allowing cqb maneuverability. I won't know about the reliability aspect till I've played a season with her but she handles and fires beautifully! Very comfortable from every position I've fired it in.

I like it, if you can shoulder it. I prefer my optic as far up as possible as well, and Im happy someone produced those mags in airsoft form
Looks like a light and tight killing machine |
