Lol. Indeed some badass panoramic NVG's.

I read somewhere that they are a measly $65,000. Fair price

4 tubes must be better than 2!

this whole controversy over OPSEC stuff, and a bunch of CNN coverage sure is good publicity for the book...

and at times, good for a laugh: http://www.emptywheel.net/2012/09/05...eyre-cornered/

He keeps mentioning how the plate carrier weighs 60 pounds... Is he hanging dumbbells off the back? 2 front and 2 side plates plus Kevlar can't be more than 30 pounds, then 3 mags, 2 radios, 1 grenade? It gets up there, but 60 pounds sounds high to me.

In the book he exclusively says its 60lbs of kit, total. Not just the rig. The lid and NODs probably weigh quite a bit. Pretty good book by the way!

Nope. He says, in the caption of the pic, page 141:

My assault kit organized during an Afghanistan deployment. Visible are my pistols, assault rifles, helmet with NVGs, and my sixty-pound vest including ballistic plates.

He probably means that he paid 60 pounds for it in the UK. :P

My plate carrier and kevlar weight about 60 pounds and my lowcaps don't weight as much as 8 loaded 30 rounds mags. It's legit! (O:

Wow, I guess the kevlar adds most of the weight. I run a bit over 30 pounds with plates and 6 GBBR mags. The more I added it up in my head the more it seemed to sound right.

There's another quote in the book saying the helmet with NODs weighed less than 10 pounds. Guess that's where about 50 of the 65 thousand dollars goes for a set of those NVGs, lol.

I know, but right near the beginning of the book he says it was 60lbs of kit. I saw the caption under the picture says that, but in the text it says 60lbs of kit including helmet with NODs.
