In many places, namely Europe and Asia, bio BBs are required on the field. That's why you see many companis that will offer it as a product. I think it's mainly a North American thing where we don't care about the BB. I'll bet overseas you'll see more carpooling in little 3-cyl cars to games, solar power and not wiping your ass (those filthy Europeans ).

yeah, i guess your right, there are better ways to save the planet , but I think everylittle bit counts... I guess i feel like i am just starting to get into airsoft, and am slightly dismayed by most the ASC abillity to brush of the enviromental problem with the classic "it's not my problem and even if it is, i can't make a differance on my own" attitude.
I in no way meen to be dis-respectfull, sorry if it seems like that, I'm just stating my oppinions...

Some people will know about a plan "Operation Ghost Town" which was canceled due to the fact airsoft BB's take too long to biodegrade....

Biodegradable BBs are a bit unsafe to use in my oppinion. They are very prone to warping from exposure to moisture. That, and you cannot simply open up a bag, dish some out and save the rest for later... You gotta use em all right up as soon as you open the packets. I'll be sticking to using regular bb's for the sake of my $500+ guns.

I doubt a bb would take longer than 6 months tops to decay entirely. Again, I'd need someone who's researched it to agree.
I can vouch to that I had two plastic water bottles left outside for 2 months, nothing has happened to it.. I jsut recently shiot the hell out of it tho, it lives no more.

I've been on a field with little airsoft play in the past year, and there are BBs that have been there for years, still intact. A little weathered, but almost usable. These are in areas of the field nobody has used for game play in almost 2 years, since September of 2006.

Plastic water bottles are not the same plastic as a BB. There are thousands of different plastics, and some will last for decades exposed to moisture and sunlight. PVC and ABS are such plastics, and I've seen PVC pipe that is 20+ years old in direct sunlight and it's still holding up.

How quickly do bio BBs last is a better question, and how much longer than "non-bio" BBs?

Somewhere I read that a "regular" BB takes 4 years to degrade, whereas some of the bio BBs take from 2 weeks up to 6 months....
