Not Eye Safe, Pretty Boy Maximus on the field take his picture!

I use a gas mask indoors because its more of a milsim face cover than a mesh facemask, definetly doesnt hurt when i got shot in the face anymore but atleast i TESTED my gas mask before i used it in a game!
it had 1/8" thick plastic lenses and they cracked from a 350fps hit, i then replaced them with 3/32" lexan thats rated above 30 joules. Same goes for the 3 other people in winnipeg with S10 respirators |

It's got nothing to do with attractive. If there is one thing a gasmask can do (aside from help you breathe in less than quality gases), it can make y ou look intimidating. If a group of men bursted through your door right now brandishing weapons of sorts, would you be more fearful if you could see their face or if it was hidden? Most people will say it's more unnerving if their face (and especially eyes) are hidden. Yes, many other face covers can acheive this, but nothing really is as notorious as a gasmask.
And secondly, I'm not about to sit here and listen to you (well, not just you, I mean in general) tell me that there isn't an 'image' factor in Airsoft. I'm sure there are good reasons Airsofters don't look like speedballers, or just people in jeans/t-shirts. If a gas mask gives you the image you want (and you are fine with having limited vision and breating through a straw), then who's to rag on you for wanting to use it, but only if you've taken the proper safety proceedures (like replacing the lenses with a tougher material). I can't help but laugh at how fast this went form showing off a gimped eye, to a bashing on people to cheap for eye protection, to a discussion on why people wear gas masks...

Why not... wear eye protection + a gas mask (for those of us that want 2).

You'll be hard pressed to mate a good pair of goggles to a gas mask. Best option still is to replace the lenses of the gas mask, but you'll be treading in non ANSI certified territory...

On a side note, I don't really plan to game a gas mask (although I do hear hollowing out the innards of the filter canister makes it much less like breathing through a straw), but I do have a certain unexplainable fascination with a well play upon gas mask, so it's nice to have one handy and accessible (this means I'll have to get a gasmask pouch...oh my poor wallet).

like my airsoft mentor told me at my first game when i complained about the goggles i had on..
you can't put a price on eyesight.! MAKE SHURE THE GOGGLES ARE RAITED FOR WHAT YOU WANT THEM TO DO a caniden gass mask has glass in the eye sockets.. " as far as my understaning goes" anything made of glass can shatter .. even if you hit it a million times there are always weekness in it. all it takes is one hit in the right place and it will shatter.. thats why only bulletproof glass is ballistic raited. all ballistic goggles are made of a type of abs plastic that makes them more resistant to impacts. a gass mask is used for gas.... not airsoft ... sunglasses are for sun.... not airsoft ... shop glasses are for the shop.... not airsoft ... pick up some real BALLISTIC goggles and use those .. WHAT DID WE ALL LEARN TODAY? ..... YOU CAN'T PUT A PRICE ON EYESIGHT ....... ...... don't take the chance ....... ...... use only ballistic rated goggles ....

then again, theres nothing wrong with having style and being practical.. i dont plan on buying a full mask or a helmet or anything like that, my desired look is really minimal protection(ballistic resistant one piece goggles and a black balaclava)... but if its hitting you in the cheek or w.e its not that big of a deal, bruises and welts disapear over time, all that really matters is you take care of the more vulnerable areas.
but im done talking about this :P some one should just let this thread die, weve all made our points and really theres nothing left to be said other than some random dick coming in here and starting a fight for no reason because he disagrees with our oppinions
