2.0

Not much of a change.. added 3x magnifier, Magpul gas pedal and switched out the stock for the IMOD which is just my preference. Now just waiting on the SMR Mk1 and then it's paint time!

EDIT: Almost forgot to mention the custom muzzle device/flash hider... that's in the works too.

In the video of the Toronto Maple Leafs intro with CSOR, I seen what appears to be the IUR-10's and the closest rails to those are those Knights Armament Company ones(don't know the name).

However, I went with the old C8CQB because my heart has a soft spot for them.

Externals:
-G&G GC7A1 base gun with used unknown buffer tube
-King Arms steel 10" outer barrel
-Chinese VLTOR stock
-D Boys Ergo trigger grip
-Chinese KAC drop in rail
-Zombie Stopper converted to a normal XPS-2
-Chinese Colt carrying handle (Eventually will be swapped out for the correct L119A1 D.I.S. one)
-Tokyo Marui PEQ-16 (don't know the real name of this PEQ but I know for a fact that it's not a PEQ-16)
The incorrect thing I'm using besides the carrying handle is my vertical grip. I'm using a real Magpul RVG.

Internals:
-SHS hi-torque motor
-AoE adjustment
-finely shimmed
New cut-off level, my friends hand made MOSFET so I can pew pew with 11.1 lipos. Shoots 350 with .28, but I ordered a VFC hopup unit and a Prometheus TBB and those will up my FPS so I gotta create controlled air leaks to lower the future FPS so my gun will be legal at my home fields.
All the internal work was done by Jaeger Project (Francisco Lorenzo).

This is just my backup gun but I hope you guys enjoy it!

So it's not allowing me to upload any photos...

The URX rails?

Me too. If that's your's on the ASC FB page, I love what you've done with it. I'm doing a 2nd one up similar as a backup / lower FPS.

Actually that is a PEQ-16 (not to be confused with the PEQ-16A used by a number of US forces). I've only ever seen it in use by CANSOFCOM. If it is in use by others I just haven't noticed. Here's the Insight Technology product sheet for the real deal:

Given the amount of leeway they have with furniture and the amount of Magpul we have seen in pics, it wouldn't surprise me if the RVG is in use by some.

The tan upper one? Yes that is mine!

Update...

Muzzle device:

So I'm half way to duplicating the very unique muzzle configuration on the CQB models seen in images and video. It appears to consist of a Smith Enterprises "G6A2-SBV with 22x1 mm RH O.D. thread" flash hider:

And a custom Allen Engineering M4 Collar Adapter similar to this:

Together they provide the necessary mounting system for the Ops Inc 5.56mm Suppressors seen in use.

So here's the first part of my version thanks to a local fellow airsofter and his machining skills.

IMAG0085.jpgIMAG0083.jpg

Next up will be the actual flash hider. One option is to have a couple real steel copies re-tapped for -14mm thread however I fear that may be a dead end as they're only available through the US and I don't have much confidence that I'd be able to bring said item across the boarder. Even with the under-$100 ITAR exception, I'm not certain CBSA will allow this particular one. I'm still investigating that option.

The other option is to somehow adapt threads to the closest airsoft Vortex flash hider. I have two of these on the way to use in the meantime. Hopefully they can be adapted fairly easily.

I got my suppressor 2nd hand from someone on ASC. Mine's either a King Arms or G&P replica of an Ops Inc 12th Model and is designed only to attach to the SPR flash hider (the one I have on there in the earlier pics. The flash hider is CW which makes me think G&P but they probably all come out of the same factory anyway.

I've heard CANSOFCOM use both the Ops Inc. 15th 12th Model Suppressors. That custom barrel adapter and the threaded Vortex flash hider in my previous post is designed to replace the SPR flash hider.

If you want something similar but that simply attached to a -14mm threaded barrel, then I would suggest this if you can find it in stock somewhere and then successfully bring it into the country:

As far as machinework goes, I got lucky and found a local airsofter who works in a machine shop. However, they weren't able to do the threaded flash hider as it would take different equipment they just don't have yet. What I found though is that most machine shops don't take on tiny jobs like this as they're too busy with larger orders. There's actually a fellow on the Airsoft Canada FB looking at starting up a company to machine custom parts for airsofters.

Weird question, but if I attach a 416 RIS or those non-delta ring receivers to the C8, will that still be considered accurate or factually acceptable? This is because I don't wanna get a IUR, but instead might op for those instead.

HK416 rails won't fit on M4 upper. You'd have to swap out a 416 upper with it. The top rail on the 416 is higher and at that point I would say it becomes a different M4 variant. I know I won't be able to duplicate the IUR exactly short of having one machined at a god-awful price. The only close airsoft IUR is the G&P MRP upper but for my own taste it's not close enough. Instead I've decided on a Dytac Mk1 10" Rail. My end build should look something like this:

I think it's really up to you to decide what's acceptable to use and call a particular model. There's C8 builds on here that are accurate down to the exact trades. Mine likely won't be exact due to cost so I'm just going to think of it as "inspired by" As apposed to an exact replica. No one says you can't use a particular primary with a particular loadout but just expect some purists to point out the it's not correct.

So in other words if I build the adapter + flash hider, then attach the OPS suppressor, then it works too?

And is the adapter suitable for importing into Canada?

Thanks

That's the catch. I have doubts that the flash hider will be allowed into the country. Still looking into that. You'd also have to have it retapped to -14mm should you be able to get one. The collar & flash hider would then (real steel or machined) work with the Ops Inc Mock Suppressor.

Here's my hokey blueprint / specs for the collar:

Not really. Most real steel adapters and flash hiders are threaded for 1/2-28 which is much different that the usual -/+ 14mm airsoft thread. You'd have to have it machined and by the time you're done you might as well have it machined from scratch.

Also, I doubt that adapter would make it past CBSA into Canada.

So although I have the C8/C7/L119 Gallery thread going as well I'm going to post updates to my own build here and keep that thread for full finished builds. Here's an update showing my newer Dytac SMR Mk1 rail which I feel has a closer look to the IUR and should look pretty good after some additional minor mods.

These pics also show my semi-custom muzzle device meant to mimic the Vortex G6A2-SBV and Allen Engineering M4 collar. It's close but not close enough for my liking (that's my OCD kicking in).
