150 would be an afordable price for people starting off instead of blowing 500 dolours on a aeg. it wouldn't discourage as many people due to price but stupid customs and brokage fees cause us to pay more in canada wich would result in undisired prices

I don't consider spending $500+ on an AEG that I can count on to work every single time I pull the trigger for years to come to be "blowing" my money. $500 is what, 3 day's work at a decent job? That's nothing - it's peanuts. I spent triple that on my TV.

Personally, I think that making airsoft more expensive is a good thing - it keeps it out of the hands of little kids who aren't really interested in the sport, but want something cheap and realistic to show off to their friends - and when they get tired of it, they'll sell it off cheap, too, to someone who may end up using it in a dangerous manner.

See, just because you have a cheap gun doesn't mean you can be competitive. It's like auto racing....you can't expect to be competitive unless you spend some cash. A $400 Chevette isn't going to be competitive with a $40K Corvette. Try and race in a garbage car and you'll end up quitting in frustration anyways, because you can't compete. Ultimately, if people WANT to play airsoft (or race, or golf, or snowboard), they'll save their money and get some decent equipment. You don't see PGA pros playing with $299 Walmart clubs, do you?

I can't wait until these UTG guns have been around for 3-4 years so we can see how they lasted in comparison to a TM-built gun - because I know a stock TM gun will still be running after 3-4 years. I'm willing to bet that after you finish replacing inferior parts over 3-4 years, you'll have spent more on the copy than on the real deal from TM.

You completely missed my point. The fact is, most kids (and I use the term "kids" because most adults have learned that you get what you pay for and will shell out the extra cash for quality. Yes, there are still some adults who are willing to buy total crap because it's cheap - that's their problem) aren't going to care who they re-sell these things to after they've gotten a parent or whoever to get the gun for them and then get bored with it - if they need $60 for a hot new PS2 game, they'll ditch these things on whoever has the cash, 18 or not.

I highly doubt the 15 and 16-year-olds who will be lining up to buy these things are going to be checking ID's when they want to get rid of them...present mature under-18 company on this Dboard excluded of course.

Wait, you're under 18.
Damn, that's hypocritical.

You're hearing me the wrong way, I don't care if under 18 people play (Hell, I know a 9 year old with the maturity of some 30 year olds). However, they SHOULD be put under a probationary period for a long while before, as a LOT tend to do stupid things. For example, recently:
A local man was sitting in a park, reading the paper. Some 14 year old idiot shot him in the back of the neck 7 times.
A guy at my old high school walked around with a spring pistol in his pocket, and over the year shot a few people with it (Outside school property, but still, that's really quite stupid).
Generally, during skirmishes, I find most of the movie-inspired jackassedly stupid stunts are pulled by younger kids.
And to top it off, some tend to run around their house (In front of windows) shooting at each other without eye protection. Pretty dumb.
Altogether, a lot are liabilities to the sport. If they can prove themselves, as many do, I'm all for it. But if a 15 year old comes along, they should be given a rental on the field for the game only, and the responsible team members should keep an eye on him for the first while.

Dude...
"spelling".

Look, just go to a local game, get a rental, and they'll see how you do for the next while. OK?
