For an Alpha jacket you don't even have to buy from the LEAF catalog, that's a civi jacket also.
Just wait till spring when the outdoors stores are flipping over to summer gear. If you want the army colours you'll need to do some digging though. $350 list price for the LT right now.

No Danke, both variants are different in few things, the most visible being the color and velcro. That color (Crocodile) is exclusively in the LEAF line and can't be found in your average outdoor store... Even the corporate Arc'Teryx store in downtown Montreal can't get it.
And the LT is a completely different product.

It depends what you want to do, play army guy dress up or go for a hike with a nice jacket.
There are at least 3 cuts of Alpha jackets, and if you live somewhere warm there's no reason to buy a jacket you'd wear for a climb in the Rockies in the winter. You can get a great shell at what I'd rate as a reasonable price. And Pugs is right about the LEAF pricing, it's a break but it's still a good chunk of cash. I know one of the designers in Vancouver and I suggested they bring more of the LEAF features to the civi line. Like the Combat Pants for example, I'd like to have a set in another colour other than Crocodile or Black.

I'm an Arc'teryx whore. I wear that brand every day and I wish I could get my hands on the LEAF stuff. But I can't really justify spending 500$ on a jacket that is militarised, when I have a civy equivalent already. I do a fair amount of hicking, but duplicated gear is a not an option. Unless it's affordable.

The Alpha Jacket was running around $320 for XL+ sizes at the Factory Outlet. The only thing from the LEAF line they had in normal sizing was the Alpha pant. I was just their yesterday and they are out of Alpha pants in Medium and Large. The Alpha Jackets were gone though so they were either sold out or put away. Several Bravo and Combat Jackets. I wish they had my size at $130 for a Combat Jacket. $49 for XXL Fusion Pants.

Good post
Anyone know how to get http://www.ottawacitizen.com/news/44...n?size=620x400 or is it a custom tailor job. I've seen a few people in Borden walking around with these on. Last edited by danteh; May 14th, 2011 at 17:09.. |

The pockets? Custom job, far as I know, but I have heard around here that they're starting to pop up in Clothing Stores on various bases.
There's also been talk that they're waiting for the new 'style' redesign of the combat uniform, which will look quite different from what we see today. Most notably, I think will be the possible elimination of the chest pockets. But I'm still hoping to keep the chest pockets, in a lower profile, addition of upper arm pockets, and removal of the lower pockets on the shirts, Something closer to the American design would be nice. I really like the cut of the American ACU.
