Mikel is correct. I can remember reading an article, perhaps in the Globeandmail, where someone was bitching that we weren't giving our troops the right BDUs for the job..........but several U.S. chopper pilots said the CADPAT worked better than any other for the terrain they were in.

Sorry Mikel, didn't want to be a smartass. Was only a joke, no offense.
I heard the bitching jjronnie is talking about, and saw some pics of green soldiers in some yellowish sand. I only had that image of the soldiers in Afghanistan, and the only landscape I've seen in Afghanistant was either sand or greyish rock mountains. So when you said TW Cadpat is good in Afghanistan, I was just wandering how could it be. Thanks a lot for the pictures, though! Kymoz |

Just remember, Afghanistan has green hills, it's not all a desert. But even the barren desert landscape worked [somewhat] with the faded Gen1's...

From those photos you provided of the PPCLI guys and the pictures I've seen on the DND Combat Camera site - to me it still clearly shows that TW CADPAT ain't the best choice for Afghanistan. MULTICAM or SpecAm Arid would be better. Whilst the TW CADPAT wasn't as obvious in that mountainous terrain, it still wasn't that great either. |

I do agree though, Multicam would work wonders in Afghanistan.

TW CADPAT uniforms were being produced before 9/11; up untill than there was no rush to make AR CADPAT. TW CADPAT was the only uniform available, so thats what they wore. |
