Photos reminded me, seems like the front sight is made of pot metal. Don't know how well its going to hold up if "original" AK sling is going to be used...

Interesting that your WE AK came with a silencer attachment. Mine didn't but it still shoots close to the 430 fps mark (subject to variations in chrono devices) so I'm not sure how my gun was modified to boost the fps to Canadian legal levels. Can somebody post a pic of the silencer attachment?

As for the gun itself, love it. Gonna game it this weekend at the Adrenaline field (October 30) if anyone cares to check it out. Already bought myself 9 spare mags. As for the mags themselves, I like them. Takes getting used to but once you realize how to slot the edge of the mag into the lip, it just snaps into place with a satisfying click. No wobbles whatsoever.

Very solid gun and stays true to the spirit of the AK, with the simple design and solid construction and the lower rate of fire (measured mine at 8.6 rounds per second or 516 rounds per minute). AK purist may hum and ha at some cosmetic differences to the real thing but to me, it definitely screams AK.

I love how I can adjust hop up with my fingers right at the field as opposed to having to use a tiny Allen key like the M4 variants (and it's a PITA to adjust). Love the ease of takedown. I can access to bolt and nozzle in less than 5 seconds. The nozzle seems to be a better design than the m4 nozzles....it's a simpler design that doesn't look like it would crack (I've cracked my share of m4 nozzles).

The only real peeve I have is the fact I cant use my speed loader anymore to load the mags. The feeding lips are too big. I have to resort to using the included loader. Sucks, but not a deal breaker as I can still load up pretty fast.

Loads with a speed loader fine, just pinch the loader at the feed lips and pump away, Same way I load my M4 mags

If you're referring to the short rail on the dust cover (replacing the rear sight) it's actually made by StormWerkz and they do ship worldwide (included in the price).

Hey Brian, you're right. I guess I wasn't pressing down on the speedloader tip hard enough. Thanks!

Ok. Installed the RaTech NPAS unit without any modding. Just chrono'd with the NPAS at the maximum fps setting. I got 190 fps. So, this thing definitely needs a mod to make it work. From the looks of how the valve sits in the nozzle, will have to shave off at least 2.5 to 3mm of the rear part of the nozzle that contacts the valve in order to maximize the NPAS range.

I don't want to do the mod yet until spare nozzles are available. But it seems to be pretty straightforward.

Look at that it looks the same as my PDW. I had the shave the rear part of the nozzle to make the npas work. Or else I get very low FPS.

Also another observation. It looks like the stock valve also seems to sit a little far forward in the nozzle which leads me to believe that the potential fps of the AK could be a lot more than the 420 to 430 fps I measured (had the valve sat flush with the opening in the nozzle).

So I guess we better be careful not to shave too much off the nozzle as we don't want to limit the fps range of the NPAS to the high end. My ideal range would be 330 to 500 fps on .2 gram BBs.

does NOT take down like a real one, it's a stacked assembly.. I believe that the front sight/ gas block has to be removed .. then the front upper retaining ring will come off and then the hand-guard will come off..

then the lower can be removed...

Real one, body cover lifted.. retracts the upper handguard retention pin.. upper handguard and gas tube can be lifted out.. then lower hand guard retention lever can be lifted to release the forward retention ring... then lower can be slipped forward and removed.. simple..

WE does not mirror real takedown in this regard..

Yea, my problem was being too gentle.
Unscrew 1 screw in the bottom of the front sight, take out pin from the side (from the right side). And then apply force to the front sight to pull it off the "outer barrel".

EDIT: CYMA wood looks/fits shitty... gotta get something better.

Or you could do what I did for my SRC GBB AKS74U build and get a Magpul 5-slot PRS, cut the end off to fit, and tap threads into your rear sight to set it in. Works like a charm! Speaking of the SRC, anyone in Ottawa got a WE AK? I'd love to see the difference between these two beasts in person.

Another interesting find. Tho the mag specs state a maximum round capacity of 30+1, I am able to fit almost 50 rounds (with more than enough gas to empty the mag). Useful for sure, but am I damaging the mag by doing so?

Any of you experiencing the same extra BB capacity in your mags?

Yup. Just confirmed again with another mag. 50 round maximum capacity. That's 3 separate mags doing the same thing.

It's generally advised not to load more than capacity. though, some people will always jam their mags completely full to gain an advantage over their opponents.

Over time the spring will wear out and not feed to the end. Also, you could find that the spring might start to bind on you once dirt and grit start accumulating. You will also notice excessive upward force placed on the nozzle when loading the mag and the bolt/nozzle are forward. It could jam the nozzle and prevent you from firing your weapon.
