It can be forged 7075... it exists. 7075 is just an alloy. Forging is a process.

Sun Devil makes fine receivers. There is one on an M16 I posted up in this thread many pages back. It is a slick side billet upper, they sell for $99 USD.
They are located in Mesa, Arizona, and many great AR products are manufactured in Arizona and shipped out all over the country, and to us. They have the capability to make something not considered an 80% receiver and built for PTW use. It can be done.

Until Systema announces what the receiver's material is going to be for the 2013 PTW, Wallace's words are nothing.

If they drill one hole on a forged receiver on a CNC machine, they could just call it a CNC'd receiver and they wouldn't be lying...

Hi guys... just a quick question. I've been using the advanced search but with no accurate results.
Is it possible to have information about the changes to be done in a RS upper receiver to fit a PTW / CTW properly? Do any one of you know someone who does it? Thanks a lot for any info provided! |

You will need a rotary table or lathe to widen the inner diameter to fit the cylinder, and a mill or a drill press with a cross table/vice to cut the relief for both cylinder tab, and sector gear.
EDIT: Or you can also use a dremel.

I have an Aero Precision COP monolithic upper on one gun now, and I have cut a Sun Devil slick side upper several years ago. You can do it with a Dremel. It takes a couple of hours.

is there any good guide somewhere? I got an old link to a PTW forum but is offline now. It's getting hard to find something related to this :S.
Thanks for the info guys... I think I will end up buying a RS upper and converting instead of getting another PTW / CTW one... |

There really is no guide per se. Just cut it until the cylinder fits.
If the cylinder won't slide in at all, you have your work cut out for you.

its easy for you, you r McGuyver! you can do it with a clip hehehe.
Is there any other piece to b replaced at the upper? The charging handle, the forward assist perhaps? And again thx, believe its really appreciated. Last edited by FULLMETAL; September 18th, 2013 at 00:53.. |

You don't have to replace anything. I suggest grind off the dust cover latch and reverse the spring to keep the dust cover closed. It keeps water and crap out of the gun.
